I do have and no I wouldn't contact them. I have more than one. If I wanted to these are the people I would ask. If you wish to make contact normally all the info one needs someone in your family already knows. As in aunts and uncles or grandparents. First try asking your father himself.

Thats a good question! I have 2 half sisters who are 10 and 13 yrs my junior and i have known them since birth however we love each other but really have nothing in common one is 19 and the other is 16, that said i can't imagine not knowing them even though were not close, on the other hand my husband has a son from a previous relations ship that we have only seen 2 times when he was under 2 and is now 9 so we have no ties to him really and my kids don't know him really they are 8 hours away from us how ever one day i am sure they will want to konw each other. I guess i would contact him and explain the situation and go from there he will either want to see you or not and if not then his loss. Good Luck

If I were you I would contact a middle person first, like your father (if you still talk to him), and see if your half-sibling would WANT to hear from you. Some people would be delighted, others would be shocked and would hate to be confronted with something they're not ready to deal with. So instead of having a big bang surprise, try running it past some one else in your family who has connections and can get a better feel of the situation for you. You're entitled to your opinion of wanting to get in touch, but they are as well and they may not want to be contacted.

It depends what you want to get out of this contact? This person may not want to know you or be interested in any kind of relationship. Will you be able to deal with that rejection?
This person may not be a good or nice person. He may be violent, a felon, a drug addict, a pervert..., Who knows he may not bring anything good and actually bring bad stuff into your life. Are you prepared for that? Have you done any kind of back ground check?
If you just want to let him know that you exist and that you are willing to talk with him and see where it goes and he isn't dangerous or a harm in any way, go for it.

I think I would but the tact I would take would be more of contacting them with questions about the shared parent. More of a "hey, you oon't know me and I don't know if my Dad ever mentioned me, but I was wondering if you could tell me...." This would be a diplomatic way of opening the channels of communication. If he wants to continue contact, he will. If not, then you'll know.

Just write him a letter and tell him that you're his half sister and ask if he would like to keep in touch. If he says no, then let it be. That's what I would do. But if the past hurts you a lot in a way, and you yourself don't feel comfortable with it, then don't do it yet til you're comfortable.

the hardest thing in the world is to know you have another out there and you can't find them, one of the greatest things in the world is to meet someone that has your blood and genes and you can talk to them as if they had been there all your life.
you can heal from the shock, but can't sleep if you know they are out there and you can reach them.
got to them and make them a part of your daily life...they'll love you for taking that first step.
