We were made in God's image / likeness. We sinned by following the practices of satan in the first earth age. That is the time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 . So when we were born of woman ( this being our second time around), we carried over our sins of the first earth age. This is what is referred to as "original sin". Rather than kill us as the law required, God sent Christ into the world to die in our place. Those sins probably had to do with unnatural sex, etc. So if we repent of those sins and all sin and accept Christ as our savior and have faith in Christ's authority to save us from those sins then we have saved ourselves by doing so. This should answer all your questions.

No. You do not understand what "image" means. The word translated as "image" does not mean "identical to", it has more of a meaning of "connected in potential". Thus, we have a "seed of God" within us, just as an acorn is the "image" ("ikon") of an oak. Original sin is not part of that "image". It is a stain upon the image, added later from free human choice.

Sin wasn't created by God. It was created by humans. We have the image of God, which means we have the looks of God, just like you have the looks of your father. Sin has nothing to do with image.

We were created in the image of God, but we MESSED UP that image. We decided to cloud His glory and perfection by sinning, and falling short of His glory and image. Jesus was sent here by God, to die the death that we deserve to die, and save us from what we deserve- hell, and eternal separation from God. Saying God is a sinner is mocking Him, be very careful- GOD CANNOT BE MOCKED.

In my opinion, "original sin" refers to the knowledge of good and evil...it refers to the fact that each of us has to use our own resources to decide between good and evil and that our perception is flawed so that we can't always see them accurately. God certainly also has knowledge of good and evil, the difference is that his isn't flawed by imperfect perception!
