Skippy say that there a lot of rip offs when talking about child models. Skippy say, find a good agency and take child there.
Skippy say, you know it be rip off if the agency asks you to pay for pictures, school or portfolio. Models dont have to pay a dime to get into the business.
Skippy also say, it help if you live in a major modling market like LA, Dallas or NY.

Well, I don't live in Minnesota or Chicago, but I live in Dallas and my four year old is a child model. For the most part you have to know someone. I don't but I have found www.thecutekid.com pretty helpful. They have an online photo competition every month that's judged by professionals. My daughter was an honorable mention two months. Even if you don't enter the competition you can upload your childs photo and different agencies and companies look through the photos and your child might get noticed. And definately take any local competitions seriously. I entered my daughter into a local competition to be the newest model for a local photographer and she won. Now she's doing print ads and internet ads for this photographer. You just have to have patience and persistance. And if your child likes to model and you don't put all you focus into just that you're not hurting your kid. When they're old enough they'll tell you if they don't want to do it. A three year old should be able to tell you anyways.

One thing I will say is be careful about signing up with modeling agencies. There are those that only exist to rip off people. If you sign up with one that requires huge fees up front, walk away. A legitimate agency will not do that because you're making money for them. Another thing to watch out for are photo shoots. You shouldn't have to spend a lot of money getting professional photos right away. That can come later as you start to become successful. A few good snapshots or school pictures should do. If the agency insists otherwise, also walk away. I got ripped off this way years ago.

my 15 y/o son models for Page Parks in Houston Tx.
They may have an office where you live.
I have ALWAYS told my son to stop at anytime he wishes to do so.
Not everyone is able to be a model.Looks is not everything, personality helps.
Fortunetly my son got his good looks and personality from his mama =)
