One is a cult and one is a monotheistic religion.

Scientology asserts that we are all eternal spiritual beings who pass from body to body, lifetime to lifetime, and we all originated from "Theta", or "the source of life and life itself". Scientology further asserts that there is no sin, no "final judgment", no Heaven or Hell, no truth besides that which you personally define as "truth", and that we are all in need of the "salvation" of Scientology. They insist that we are all full of "engrams", or "past negative experiences stored in our bodies", and that we must "clear" ourselves of these engrams through the Scientology "technique" of "auditing".

Catholicism asserts that we are all humans with a soul, and that once we die we will be judged by Yahweh, a creator deity (and either sent to "Heaven" if we are "saved" through faith in his son, Jesus Christ, or "Hell" if we reject the messiah and his fathers word), and that "sins" are offenses against Yahweh. It's asserted that Yahweh is the origin of morality and truth and goodness and life, and that we all need the "salvation" of Yahweh and Christ.

Catholicism is a form of Christianity that believes in God and Jesus as the son of God who died for all of our salvation.

Scientology is not a Christian faith. It's a modern "religion" created by a science fiction author. I don't think it even has anything to do with a God. It's about reaching your full potential and harnessing all of your internal strengths to make your life better.

As I understand it, Scientology doesn't care what religion you are, they just "enhance" it.

If you're Catholic, you have to Christian.

So if you see Christianity like a cup of coffee, Scientology would be the non-dairy creamer.

If that confuses you, then how do you find your way out of bed every morning?

Catholicism - Based on the teaching of Jesus, with nearly 2000 years of history.

Scientology - Based on the writing of L Ron Hubbard (a science fiction writer) with less than 100 years of history

I live in Clearwater, Florida, one of their headquarters. There is a huge difference. The $cienos live together, wear uniforms, and have to pay huge sums of money to take classes so they can achieve the next level of the organization. When you see them in zombie like packs wandering all over downtown, it's really creepy.
