For example, Canaan is referred to in the Bible as the Lnad flowing with milk and honey. "Milk and honey are synonyms for the Gospel.

It is very evident that although Jesus is referred to as the "Lamb of God", He was not really a lamb. Yet He was the sin offering or atonement for all those whom He came to regenerate or save.

kotaro-you have been influenced by humanism. You must understand that God does not owe you or I anything! When I look at the awesome complexity of this universe and the incredible diversity of living things in our earth, there can be no doubt that a Being with incredible wisdom and power created it. Order does not come from disorder! As living things age, their systems breakdown and errors arise in DNA replication. They eventually die and the elements are retuned to the earth.

kotaro-I would suggest that you check out the Institute for Creation research (ICR). The scientist there have done excellent work in showing that the earth is about 13,000 years old.

Blue-I can see that humanism has affected you also. Why not do some research of your own instead of parroting something you heard. There is evidence, but you will not look at it. Because it is not "cool" to believe the Bible, many people join the masses in mocking the Bible and its contents. Perhaps talk to some archeologists and see what they think of the accuracy of the Bible. Many
cities named in the Bible have been found by examing details given in the Scriptures.

Dr.Evol-the Bible was written to all of mankind. God is no respector of persons. One's mental abilities is of no importance to God. The Lord can save a child in the womb (such as John the Baptist) as well as a thief dying on a cross. He can save a King (such as Solomon) or a poor blind beggar. God is in charge; He is Sovereign. For one to judge God and insult His character is a witness to the depravity of man. God does not own us a thing! We have broken His laws and shaken our puny fist at Him.... I am amzed at how patient and longsuffering the Lord is.

Dr.Evol-the comment you made about "reason" is really the problem. Many people think thye know more than God. Watson and Crick discovered the structure of DNA in the 50's. Do you realize God designed that molecule? Do you understand that God designed the DNA replication enzymes? I have not even spoken about transcription or translation. And it all works together as a precision timepiece. Order does not come from disorder. There has to be a designer and the creator is God. Louis Pasteur and Johanne Kepler believed in the God of the Bible.
Your "reasoning" is biased. I suggest that you open the Bible (KJV) and ask God to teach you.

In Judges 14 where Samson kills a lion with his bare hands and later returns to find bees have made honey in the carcass of the lion is also metaphorical. The lion represents Jesus Christ (He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah-Revelation 5:5). Samson represents God Almighty who pours His wrath out on the Lord Jesus (Jesus endured the equivalent of spending eternity in hell condensed into the hours between the Garden of Gethsemanae and when He said on the cross, "It is finished." The honey represents the Gospel of Jesus Christ which gives "life" to man who is wicked, represented by the bees.

“The 66 books of the Bible were written on three continents. In three languages. By about 40 different people (kings, shepherds, fishermen, priests, and a physician). Over a period of about 1500 years. On the most controversial subjects. By people who in most cases had never met. By authors whose education and background varied greatly. Yet all 66 books maintain harmony with each other…as if written by one great mind. And indeed it was.” 2 Peter 1 verse 21 “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy spirit” Critics of the Bible have tried to say that certain “historical statements” in the Bible are not accurate but archaeologists have uncovered many discoveries that have proven the history of the Bible as accurate. The principles and the prophecies of the old testament as well as its history holds for us today as much relevance as it did for the Israelites in Jesus day and it blends perfectly with the new testament.

Surely if a sea was parted there would've been wildlife dead on the shore, a trace of that left in the reefs, some remnants on the floor of the sea where people had crossed . . . Surely if there had been a conniving serpent a skeleton would've been found, if there is one there had to be more, how is anything from the bible true? A dude named big J helped the Jews? Sure, no prob believing that.
Where is duckphup when you need the Jewish genie story!!!
Edit: Its not cool to believe in the bible? Are you twelve? I really try to not argue with children as they aren't old enough to know better. Give me a website where they discuss any physical evidence of any magical event that happened in that book of fables, you are calling everyone out, saying how wrong and "with the trend" we are, where is one little speck of proof? Just because you've been lied to since birth is no reason to defend something to the death, they used to think the world was flat, they finally came to terms with that. You will too eventually. It will be okay. They name real cities in Flight of the Navigator and Pinky and the Brain, does that make them real too? Its just a story. Written by man, about a man they admired. Maybe. You sure are getting all worked up over something that isn't fact. And without proof! The only thing I have to prove is that you are wrong, you have to prove that, and back up a few hundred years.

From the very onset of man's fall God showed him something. That there was to be a Lamb slain. The lamb used in the account in Genesis typified Christ as the Lamb of God. We see in revelation that this Lamb was " slain from the foundation of the world"
This was the " gospel' to adam and eve. This is what they passed onto their children. So much so that even though man at that time was vegetarian in diet, Abel choose to raise sheep. NOT to eat but to be offered up to God. This was the better way and sacrifice. This shows that the way that Abel took was the way that said, " God we cannot do anything in ourselves, but You showed us that we can be covered by what You have provided, this lamb will not only cover our sins but it will also cover us with its skin"
Christ was the Lamb was typified throughout the whole old testament. He was the Lamb of God.. the " he goat" The " ram" that is the substitute for us.
In time this God incarnated to become a man. The person Who was Fully God yet Fully Man. He is the Son of God.. the Son of Man. He is the Good Shepherd who became a Lamb to die for us. He did not come as a grown sheep, but as an innocent approachable Lamb. Simple, willing to submit to the Father to die for us.
Halleujah for this gospel, spanning throughout the whole bible. In the end we see the marriage supper of the Lamb.. we see the Lamb receiving glory and honour , riches power forever. ( Rev 5:12) He is even seen as the mighty roaring Lion-Lamb
This is our Lord and this is His way for us. To take Him as our cleansing and our covering. This is not just an outward salvation but an inward reconstituting of our entire being.
great question

There's a ton of stuff in there, and you will never find any of it if the translation is a poor one. The study of types can suck up alot of time though. It's well worth it.

Did God give us a book with riddles for us to solve and interpret like in a Treasure Hunt game in order to get to him? Is that how God enjoys himself? Most of us, if we use reason, fail to see the truth of the "holy books". Were they intended only for people who can't or won't reason?

You and me we use so very many clumsy words.
The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard.
When the Father's Wisdom wanted to communicate His love,
He spoke it in one final perfect Word.
