No. But there are times and procedures they to follow to be seen by some one. If it is an emergency all they have to do is tell the Drill instructor that it is and they have to take them to the doctor. but other wise they have to go to sick call and be seen that way. no soldier can be denied to go to sick call. if it interferes with training they could be held back and recycled to a new unit.

No they cannot! They would get into trouble for this. Say you had to get medical attention after a heat stroke, and they denied you medical and ended up dying 30minutes later. The army would be held accountable and whoever was in charge of you that denied you of medical attention will most likely face a court martial and possibly prison time. There is also where privates fake their injuries, they will get an article 115.

Yes, they can and they have. When I was in basic back in 1991 at Ft. Jackson, S.C. I was denied medical attention. I had a sore throat, fever of 103 degrees and felt like I had been run over by a train. I asked the D.S. if I could go to the hospital. He said "NO!" I had to run 4 miles that morning. Around noon time we were doing some training and I went to the latrine and passed out in the floor. A Drill Sgt. from another company came in and picked me up off the floor and threw me in a cattle truck and took me to the hospital. I was admitted and stayed in the hospital for 5 days.

I don't know how they treat the soldiers now, this is just my story.

Absolutely NOT. In fact both of my daughter were given medical treatment during basic. The private just has to communicate to the DS that something is wrong. If that doesn't help there is always someone else to go to. They just have to be proactive. Pay attention and ask their fellow warriors for a little help.

Hey Armygirl, we might have had the same DS. I had bronchitis and they wouldn't let me go to the TMC until I fell out in PT. You'd better be pretty dog gone sick and hope you're not at Fort Jackson if you want medical attention.

It depends on what the medical attention is. If it's just a cut or something then you have to tough it out. Only serious conditions are treated in basic.

No--hopefully the individual is not malingering...a typical problem in basic training with those who are trying to get out of road marches, PT, the field etc. If someone is hurt they will ensure care is given.

Just jump up and down and say (In a whiney voice)

" I WANNA GO TO THE TMC" I WANNA GO TO THE TMC"!!!!!!

no they can not refuse medical treatment if you were to really need but if they find out that you are faking to get out of doing something like say pt..... well then you will probably be in the lean and rest until ol' sarge gets tired
