Because if you get morality from your deity, and you evaluate your deity based on that morality, isn't that circular reasoning? If you have no innate sense of ethics separate from God, how do you know God is the good one and Satan is the bad one, or which one is which?

Because if humans don't innately know right from wrong, and they see Satan, how would they know he's wrong?

And if you see God, how would you know he's right?

Easy! God gives us puppies and cotton candy, Satan gives us gays and liberals.

Good question. If you get morality from your deity, then anything can be right or wrong depending on what mood your deity is in. Also, maybe they don't know who the bad one is; remember Eve listened to satan.

It's not circular if you 'get' morality from your deity. If it is something more than talk, something real, then you can judge using this given morality.

If I give my son a tape measure, he can measure the height of the door for himself. If I tell him the back door is 45 feet tall, he can measure it for himself. I have given him a tool that can be used to confirm or deny the accuracy of what I tell him.

I'm not sure about innate sense, but certainly you need something objective. Otherwise, like Son of Sam, who listened to the voices in his head telling him to kill, you'd be in mega trouble. So would the people around you.

hmmm...I think this is how deists view it: god is the one who "wrote" the books and said i am nice and satan is bad. Satan on the other hand didn't say anything like that. So basically god knows how to use publicity.

On the other hand, if you base your sense of morality on yourself........it is NOT OBJECTIVE......it is only subjective and you are the subject who creating it.

To be OBJECTIVE, all things must be independent on any person's will, intellect or emotions.

The two "independent" beings we know are God and the devil. Take your choice of whose morality you will follow.

i'm a Christian, and that i don't think of it extremely is like praying to devil :S examining it does not propose you suspect it and recommend it. many colleges prepare evolution, does not propose they're all praying to devil... that's somewhat exaggerated. I do agree that Evolution is stupid even with the undeniable fact that.
