My thoughts? That that should of been me! I cannot begin to express my gratitude- and how heartbreaking it is to know He had to do it. But also to know that He loved me that MUCH! WOW. I am just in awe of my Lord and Savior- to know the pain and suffering He went through, so I could live and be set free from death. To know He rose again and defeated death! The great triumph! He defeated death, so we who believe would defeat death through Him. I know it had to be Him- I understand there is no other name by which we must be saved, that Jesus had to be the one sacrifice for sin (For we know that in the OT they had to sacrifice animals as sin offerings, blood of animals, but Jesus shed HIS blood as the one sacrifice for all sin, and one drop could cover a multitude of sin- To those who believe)--- and I am so greatful, eternally just absolutely GREATFUL that I give him ALL the glory! And I cannot wait to cast my crown at His feet.
I deserved that death on the cross--- yet He freely saves me through His death and resurrection- I am covered by His blood and it is amazing-- AMAZING LOVE! And as He says:
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Amen!

It confuses me.
On one hand I think, man if I could only have God appear to me, then I would gladly take whatever earthly punishment man could dole upon me so that I could have an eternity in heaven.
But then also, I realize that he had it pretty hard, especially being scourged at the pillar, and he was being punished for our sins, not his own, so then I know that he already has been punished for us.
I also really wonder what he meant when he said "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" If he was perfect, then why would he question God's actions or inaction? Or was it more of a "My God! Why are these people doing this to me?" I wouldn't consider that to be using a his name in vain.
I know that he sacrificed a lot, but in my faith struggles I have to wonder what kind of sacrifice would I make for mankind if God gave me the opportunity to do something so extraordinary?
Then again maybe the only reason I'd even try is because I have Jesus' example set before me.

I believe it was the ultimate sacrifice of God the Father's "lamb." Every day, I thank Him for having the bravery to give up Himself so that anyone who believes in Him and His sacrifice may come to the father. I wonder if He knew at the time that His crucifix would dangle around the necks of priests and thug rappers alike? Either way, it is the most recognizable religious symbol in the world, and for very good reason.

He took ALL of us, every last one, plus the old creation, death, sin , self, flesh, satan and NAILED THEM TO THE CROSS.
He died as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world.( Jn 1:29) As this spotless Lamb He satisfies all the righteous requirements of God and frees us from the corruption and bondage of Sin.
This Wonderful Sacrifice died also as the Grain of Wheat.( Jn 12:24) He fell into the earth to die in order to Release the Life of God to us. We can be Born of God to be Children and sons of God. Not merely adopted, but BORN.. " that which is born of Spirit is spirit. Hallelujah!
Lastly by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross He hung there as " the brass serpent"..(Jn 3:14; Numbers 21:4-9)) Brass typifies judgment. and on the cross he judged the old serpent satan and nailed him to the cross. Christ dealt with the serpentine nature in man as well.. freeing us from the poison of satan as the old serpent. Praise the Lord for such a three-fold death on the cross for us!

Great question Forerunner7. Keep lifting up the name of Jesus Christ. Christ sacrifice his life for my sins and the sins of the world, past, present and future. His atonement for us was complete. He need not have to die in that same manner. (Hebrews 9;22).The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sins. The first time Jesus came, he came in humilty and died a cruel death. The next time he comes, he will come with all power and glory. He will come as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Hallelujah to Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.

My thoughts on it are John 3:16...For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him shall have EVERLASTING life. Christ died on the cross for us! All we have to do is repent of our sins to Christ the Lord, He w/forgive us & in turn we turn our will & our lives over to Him. The sacrifice God made, to give His only SON to die to attone for our sins. Thank of it realistically, how many people in this world today would do the same for us, all humanity, so that we can have eternal life! I doubt not a one...but He did! We surely have a wonderful HEAVENLY FATHER!

The most important thing in the world. Without his sacrifice there can be no remission of sin. Someone has to take the blame, someone has to take the punishment for our sins, someone who is perfect and sinless and someone has to obey all the rules. There is no other man only the man-God Christ Jesus.
When we look at this God is just amazing. Can you imagine that God himself willing to die for rebellious mankind? What gods do you know that would die for you?

I am eternally greatful for his passionate and compassionate love for me. By His sacrifice in the garden, to take and bear not only my sins upon Himself, but all the sins of all mankind. Then to be willing to 'pay the crucifixtional price' in my place, so that I would know the freedom from sin and darkness. There are no earthly words worthy to convey my appreciation for His demonstration of sacrificial love toward me. Not only did He save my soul that day, but He gave me the keys to the 'Kingdom of God', as well as the humble privilige and honor of being adopted as a child of God, my Heavenly Father!!!! He is Amazing & Awesome!! Rose

I agree with "transplanted".....when we asked God "how much do you love me?"...He spead His arms wide upon that old rugged cross...and said.."THIS much!"
I cannot fathom so Great a love..such wonderous grace & Mercy. I cannot understand how anyone that has come to Love Christ & accepts what He has done for each one of us...could possibly willfully & knowingly commit a wilfull sin, knowing what a sacrifice was made for that "moment".
Grace,...what a HUGE sacrifical price that was paid!
Thank you Jesus for loving all of us SO much as to pay our redemption price! Thank you Father for allowing the painful process! Thank you Holy Spirit for coming to dwell with us while we await the final outcome.

My thoughts on this awesome act of selfless love cannot be put into words. What my spirit senses, my brain and mouth could never come together to make verbal.
God became a man through His Word. The Creator killed by the created.
Why does He love me this much?
