I believe that Bush was elected primarily because he claimed to be a born-again Christian. He therefore shored up the Republican nomination, as the far-right wing, conservative, fundamentalist Christians seem to control the Republican party. In addition, I feel because so much of the country claim to be Christian, and because so much of the country was tired of Clinton's lack of integrity, Bush was elected president....as an anti-Clinton, moral, born-again.

So, have we learned our lesson on what happens when we elect a politician based on his perceived religious.moral status, rather than on his intellect?

So, fundamentalists, in the next election, will you look past the candidates perceived religious status, and focus on his intellect, ideas, and ability to lead?

Would you vote for a candidate that shared all of your governing ideas, etc...even if he were say, an atheist?

I'm not a Fundamentalist, but I would never vote for any candidate that endorsed, accepted or promoted homophobia as morality.

Bush was elected because he exhibited a moral integrity that had been lacking in the previous presidency. People had indeed grown weary by a president with no moral center or compass.

Certainly Bush was the right man at the right time and has lead his country and the world well during a time of global war. He was certainly the more intelligent of the choice of candidates. His moral convictions have been a breath of fresh air in the stink of Washington.

If I were to vote, I probably would not vote for an athiest or anyone lacking morals or integrity.

I didn't vote either candidate for President in the last election. This time, though, I will vote for the candidate who comes closest to what I want for my country. I will vote for the Republican candidate. Although my beliefs do come into my decision, I want what is best for the United States.

I would never vote for an atheist, a Buddhist or a Muslim.

I dont know about you, but I am voting for the Cultist Mormon because he is the only one who has ever had only one wife, he's never had an affair, he knows what he's on about, and while he doesnt have all of the answers, he has never said he does.
I disagree with some of this politics, BUT He is also the lesser of all the other evils.

I don't care what someone has for religion, as long as they actually know how to lead and work for the country instead of themselves.
