I have a bad headache, runny nose, chest congestion, a bad wet cough, and I'm coughing every five minutes or less. I almost threw up twice in class today, and my Grandma doesn't want me to miss school on the second week.

Sounds like you are pretty sick. I would stay home. Missing a day of school isn't going to kill you.

You have to put your health first. Without proper rest, you are just going to prolong your illness. Most likely you'll get even sicker - possibly missing more school. What is worse? Missing a day now and making yourself feel better - or missing a week since you didn't properly take care of yourself at the onset of illness? You also risk your current condition developing into something worse (pneumonia, etc.)

Also - you have to consider your classmates. With your cough, you are spreading germs to hundreds of other kids.

Stay home - drink lots of fluids - get some rest and have a friend pick up all your assignments so you can catch up over the weekend while resting.

YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR DOCTOR AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOU MIGHT HAVE THE FLU BUT I PERSONALLY FEEL YOU SHOULD MISS SCHOOL. IF YOU GO TO SCHOOL WITH THE SYMPTOMS YOU HAVE YOU ARE JUST SPREADING IT AROUND AND FELLOW STUDENTS WILL ALSO GET SICK. PLEASE CALL YOUR DOCTOR AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT SO YOU CAN GET MEDICINE.
