Outdoor cats also eat grass.

No one is quite sure why cats eat grass, there are several theories. It could be some kind of nutrient deficiency, or it could be an upset tummy - they often vomit after eating grass.

You could get a tub of grass for inside, a lot of people do this for indoor cats. I wouldn't worry about nutrient deficiency IF you're feeding a high quality cat food - i.e, not a supermarket brand like whiskas, felix, fancy feast or meow mix. All rubbish.

No one really knows why, but it's an instinct. You can read about it here:

There aren't really any supplements you can give him, so this is mainly a training issue. You have to teach him it's bad to whine or misbehave in order to try to get outside. Spraying him with water from a spray bottle when he acts up is all you need to do.

One thing that you do want to check, though, is whether his diet is balanced. Sometimes cats will get urges to do things like eat litter when they aren't getting a certain nutrient. I've never heard of an urge to eat grass over this, but I'd make sure you're giving him a standard cat food, etc., so that he's getting everything he needs.

You can get 'cat' grass to grow indoors. There are nutrients that the cat gets from grass, as well as help with hairballs (stomach upset).
