I am taking computer programming and I am learning about this thing and need some help understanding it...?

I have just a few questions for you:
1. What does PIC stand for?
2. What is it used for?

Anything else helpful about the PIC microcontroller would be great. Thank you!

PIC is the brand name for a small 8 bit micro-controller made by
the Microchip company. It has memory, an accumulator, inputs, outputs, and logic branch instructions.
