I think before you take this to the law, you should meet with your child and make sure he or she answers very honestly. Ask your bullied child if he/she told the teachers or any school staff. Sometimes kids are scared to tell and they only tell their parents. So Ask if he/she has told any school staff and if your bullied child has told any staff, try and schedule a meeting with you, your child, the teacher they told, the principal, and the superintendent. When you show up for the meeting, try not to flip out at them because they may not even really much about this other than the teacher. So talk with them a little and get your child involved and make sure you get all the details. If your child told the teacher and he/she took no further actions or just blew it off, That teacher will probably get in trouble by the higher staff. If it is really serious and your child is really being abused and the teacher blew it off, the teacher may get fired. Depending on the agree of how your child is being bullied, that will have a lot of impact on if you really want to make a law suit over it. But i would definately recommend talking with your child to get as many details as you can then taking it further and meeting with the school staff members mentioned above. If it continues even after the meeting. Go to the school board. They're even higher than the superintendent and everyone will get in a big trouble if it gets that far. Best Answer Please!!

If the school is not doing anything and they are aware of the problem, yes, sue everyone. It may sound "sue crazy" but if that is all you can do to protect your child- do it. I would also sue the bullies, the parents of the bullies, the principal, the school board, and anyone else I can think of. I threaned it years ago, and it stopped it real quick!! That's the only thing some people understand, sad but.... If you don't want to look like a money grubber or whatever- make it clear that the proceeds of the suit are going to a charity, maybe a shelter for abuses womwn and or children? Seems appropiate.

That depends on how far the bullying has gone.
I live in a town where a child in middle school brought guns in and killed 2 people injuring more. I am not saying what he did was right at all, but he had been severely bullied for years by the same kid, and when the kids dad approached the bullies dad he tried to fight the dad. I do believe the school and the bullies parents were as much to blame as the child who did the shootings. They knew about it and allowed it to go on because he was the star wrestler. The school counselor and principal knew about it. Very sad!! Needless to say now we supposedly have a "zero tolerance" in our school district but I have seen physical violence overlooked on more than one occasion at my kids school. I have kept track of it and plan on using it if need be. I would recommend you do the same. And do not feel you should sue until you have talked to the teachers, principal and school board on the issue.

While I don't believe any child should have to be bullied, I don't believe that taking someone to court is all people want to do these days. I am a teacher and hate when I hear students bully each other. However, often times teachers and the schools have no idea of the extent of the problem.

If your child has been effected severely mentally emotionally and or physically, resulting in the need of a doctor, you should sue for medical bill payments. but if your child just gets upset every once and a while call the school and ask for a face to face with the bullies parents and the principal and maybe even their teacher. Talk things out.

Although I am not the type to sue...if I WERE to sue someone over a harassment situation like this, I would sue the child/child's parents.
Unless the school was refusing to take any methods of intervention and I had documented proof of my conversations with school officials...I would leave them out of it, there is only so much they can do in situations like these.

Jeez, is 'suing' the answer to every goddamn little problem in the world? No, adults do NOT take care of harassment etc. by suing. ADULTS use reason, discussion and rationality to deal with issues.
Act like a real adult and have the school set up a conversation between yourself, the school and the bullies parents.

i say that if its like beating them up yes you could always take the child to the police department and press charges, but the chances of the parent caring that the child is even in trouble are slim to none if they are being contacted by the school and not doing anything about their bullying child.
