Lack of control and lack of purpose/direction in life- In your real life you are just along for the ride. You have no control, but feel no one else really does either. Things are pretty much just left up to fate and no one is driving or steering anything in any particular direction. You have no real direction or destination in life but it's moving on by anyway. This is causing you some anxiety and freaking you out that no one will take the wheel.

The fact that you are a child in a parking lot near Grandma's house in the dream says that you feel helpless, and are expecting someone else to take charge and drive/steer the vehicle and your life for you. Maybe you are still expecting your family to take care of you and give you direction/guidance, but they are not.

Going forward in dreams usually means some kind of growth is happening in your life. It doesn't matter much if it is in a car or plane, or on foot: if you're moving forward, it means your dream consciousness is telling you some growth is happening. Since you are always young, like 7 or 8, that might mean that this is kind of a new growth state for you.

There's nobody driving and you freak out: that means you expect somebody else to be controling this growth for you, but only you can control it.

If you're in the back seat of a car, you are obviously expecting somebody else to drive you around. Maybe your subconscious is telling you that nobody except you yourself is going to be able to control this change that is happening to you.

Your subconscious is telling you to jump into the front seat and take the wheel and control your movement forward down the hill.

That it is by your grandmother's house might be important too. Do you feel that in some way you are growing more distant from your grandma? Or maybe the things she symbolizes to you, you don't need so much anymore? Like if she symbolizes being taken care of, moving away from her in the car might mean that you are getting to a point where you're going to take care of yourself.

Sitting in the backseat = being protected, decision being made
no one driving = shock, worries, anxiety

You may be experiencing some decision making issue in your life. You may be feeling helpless in terms of making decision. Recurring dreams mean the issue is not resolved. In your case, sitting in the car could symbolize making decision. However, since you projected yourself being young, that suggests that you are seeking for support in some way. Having no one driving and still moving shows emotionally you are shocked when things don't come in your way and somehow you have to live with in.

Basically you just vent out your helpless conscience in the dream.

Car represents the "vehicle" by which you are trying to reach a goal or destination in life. The "vehicle" could be your job, talent, gift, association and on and on. But being in the back seat represents that you are not in control and just and observer. Your dream would seem to suggest that there are some things that you need to take control of yourself. And, you have some fears in your life, because there's no clear sign that someone is helping you in certain areas of your life.

According to Dreamcrowd:

The car in your dream may symbolize the physical self or ego development and ego function. In that, it represents the way that you travel through your life's journey. Consider all of the details in the dream, including its emotional content (e.g. difficulty of the road, identity of the driver, direction of the incline). Recurring car dreams usually deal with life's major themes that may include issues of control and sensibility. By carefully examining this dream, you may gain insight into important areas of life, including to how well you are navigating from one stage of your life to another, if you are assertive and take charge or are passive. Dreaming about traveling in a car is a very, very common dream theme that provides valuable information in regard to a specific part of or long-standing theme in your life's journey.

Now, I'm no expert but your dream might just be you're sub-concious telling you, you don't have control of your life or where you're going in life....the again I'm no expert...
