Vets, especially younger ones, have this fascination with invasive surgery. It is never, ever a good idea to open a closed fracture. When you put a pin into the bone you expose the bone marrow to bacteria and risk sepsis.

I would be the very first to admit that I can be bossy. But if my dog ever ended up in an er with a broken bone they would NEVER have surgery for a closed fracture. Twenty-six years ago, we had a cocker spaniel who fell off the deck with a broken leg and the emergency vet wanted to do surgery. We said no and found a new vet to just cast it. I have never changed my mind on this. It is just stupid to open a closed wound and introduce bacteria into a bone.

I am so very, very sorry you lost your dog like this. So sorry.

I'm so sorry about your puppy! That's so sad! I have a feeling, that something may have gone wrong during the surgery. I would talk to your vet and ask him what happened. I think he owes you an explanation! I agree with the other poster, that if you haven't buried her yet, to have a Necropsy {Dog Autopsy} and find out exactly what took her life!

If you haven't had her buried or cremated yet, look into having her necropised. If it was a fluke and something went wrong post op, its better for you to know. If it was something else that could be communicable its good to know for the sake of your other dog.

it could be an internal infection coming out of the pins. Or it could be that his body didnt accept the pins.
I would recommend you to ask his veterinarian.

How sad, it may have been the stress that done it.

Ask your vet to check her out incase it was something they had done
