You have to turn one word into another in a certain number of moves. At each move, you change 1 letter and (if necessary) rearrange the letters of the word to form a new word.
REMUS
_______ (move 1)
_______ (move 2)
_______ (move 3)
_______ (move 4)
_______ (move 5)
LUPIN (move 6)
All words must be real words.Do not include swear words. Do not include words that are proper names (ie. person's name, city name – anything that would require a capital letter). I need it to be done really soon.

Did you not say that you have to change one letter and the order of the letters if necessary. I changed U for I and, therefore, got MISER. I obviously misunderstood your directions. So, the object of the puzzle is to get LUPIN out of REMUS in 6 moves?

Okay, I'll give it another go.

REMUS
1.) SUPER (P for M)
2.) PULSE (L for R)
3.) SLURP (R for E)
4.) GULPS (G for R)
5.) LUPIS (I for G)
6.) LUPIN (N for S)

The only letter change I see for REMUS is REBUS (which can anagram to RUBES). Since LUPIN has no anagram, it must have come straight from LAPIN (a rather obscure word). Since LAPIN and REBUS have no letters in common, it word require at least 7 turns.

If you can anagram first, then REMUS can go to SERUM or MUSER before getting the letter change, so STRUM or FUSER or SCRUM or MUTER or MUSED or MUSES or MISER (yes, as in the other gal's suggestion) are possible for move 1.

Perhaps we need the rules to be a little more clear.

Nice use of Harry Potter names.
