For those of you who wish to correct my spelling, I am, myself, a MormOn. I am not illiterate, believe it or not. And honestly, seems to me like some people, for being MormOn, are jumping rather quickly to correct me. What if I was just a curious investigator and here you are, correcting me and the other people who have voted yours best answer? It is for snooty MormOns like yourself that some of us hate going.

Yes, there is! I am a liberal, and I am a believer of everything being a liberal means! Caring for others, standing up for their rights, even when it is unpopular to do so! I don't understand how anyone can claim to be a Christian, while denying the sick, and the poor, and the members of socieity who have no representation!
Nor do Christians have the right to judge others! That is for God to do!
And I am a 'Jack Mormon"! And these are my beliefs, not necessarily the Church's!

As an LDS, I see people who think more liberally than others. However, 99.99% of all people who are truly Christian, tend to lean to the conservative side of issues. And seeing as we are Christians, then I would have to say a "liberal Mormon" is one who allows their children to watch some rated PG-13 and R movies, and allows them to date before 16, and drinks caffeniated drinks of all kinds (except coffee and tea of course). A conservative Mormon is what we like to call a "Utah Mormon" here in Texas.

Hmm, we used to have a term called "jack Mormon" which refers to someone who is no longer active in the Church, to the point of actually doing things which are specifically prohibited by the Church. In that case, the person might be considered "liberal" by the world's standards. But if you just mean "liberal" politically speaking, you might find a moderate range of people who may or may not support government spending for different populations. In general, Mormons would favor having people do their best to support themselves or else go through church support services rather than government services, so the current style of big government would not appeal to most members.

I am sure there is, but not very many. As with most religions, Mormons tend to fall into the conservative branch because they believe that their religion should dictate their lives. Which is fine, but not when they feel it should dictate everyone elses.
A lot of people, mostly non liberals, believe that to be liberal you have to be all for abortion and same sex marriage. That is just not true. Being liberal is about progress and equality under the law. We should all be for that.

Yes. The term "Liberal" has moved more than the politics of church members. If you asked if they favored classic liberal issues of the past, you might find an even split. Since Democratic Liberals now embrace gay marriage and abortion as their platform, members have moved toward Republicans. Even Senator Reid will vote more conservatively on social issues than his collegues.

There is a small handful of them out there, but the rest of us don't understand them. Being liberal minded for the most part means being pro-abortion, pro-big government, and pro-special interests and this just does not jive with basic Mormon ideology.
