Being a corpsman is Navy. To become a corpsman you have to request or be assigned to Corpsman School. If you graduate you can request duty to the Marine Corps.

I am a Corpsman with the Navy Reserve. All Corpsmen are Navy. The Marine Corps is a branch of the Navy and thus gets all their medical people from the Navy.
I currently serve with a Marine infantry unit. It's been a great experience. While my primary job is to care for the Marines, I also train side-by-side with them, learning their tactics etc.
