Maybe stopping drinking would help your depression and anxiety. Have you thought about that?
I too suffer from depression and anxiety and the drug that has worked for me at first was Lexapro but because of so many issues it got worse and I was switched to Effoexor Xr. That helped me out but it made me very sluggish and after a while it made me lose motivation and I gained weight and became more anti social.
No pill will cure you of it but it can help with the right medicine and therapy to acknowledge your issues and learn how to cope with them.
After feeling too tired and unmotivated I went to my doctor again and she gave me Wellbutrin as someone else mentioned. It really helped and gave me lots of energy and I am now able to go out and do things more easily! Wellbutrin works well for some but not for others as it is a stimulant in a way and can cause your anxiety to worsen.
You should not drink though. When I started wellbutrin i drank and had such a bad experience. I began to sweet uncontrollably and don't have any recollection of it but know that I passed out and it wasn't good. Dont drink and take meds...

You'll probably have to try a few before you find the medication thats right for you. Different medications work differently with different people. If you are worried about drowsiness, there are medications that are recommended to take at night.
You don't have to stop drinking, however you have to watch how much you have, as drugs can cause the alcohol to have different effects on you, such as getting more intoxicated with less alcohol, and more "blackouts".

You would have to be on an anti-depressant, and I think pretty much with any anti-depressant you can't really drink much. I would suggest Zoloft for the anxiety. I had EXTREME anxiety and honestly it took it ALL away. It didn't do much for the depression though.
Everyone's body is different, especially when it comes to anti-depressants. I know people who have tried things that have worked for me and it didn't work for them and vice versa. So I would suggest asking your doctor to give you one thing that he thinks is best for your specific case. He may think that Zoloft is a good thing for the anxiety, he may not.

Well if it is depression in a sense that you dont want to do anything and have no energy then sometimes Wellbutrin helps (wellbutrin is a stimulant anti-depressant)
But, since you have anxiety , it might not help that necessarily.

you want a magic pill that will fix your depression and anxiety and still allow you to behave irresponsibly? (you want to drink to be sociable) sorry, no such thing. part of your disorder is this obvious tendency of yours to avoid responsibility.....you would do well to not only see a psychiatrist for medication recommendations, but a therapist as well for cognitive therapy.

unless you really have a chemical imbalance in your brain- you don't need drugs. they won't solve your problems anyway.
the right foods and exercise will help TONS. vitamins too. your brain is a part of your physical body- treat it that way.
