basically, my gf had sent her crazy ex bf(who just happens to be a gangster/drug dealer) to jail......we just found out he's gonna get out in a couple of days. she has a restraining order on him, but honestly what's the point? as soon as he gets out he's just gonna try and kill her. i've honestly run out of ideas and this is real serious. of course the cops won't listen because he hasn't done anything yet, and it's so sad because they are pretty much doing nothing about it. so please, if anyone has any SERIOUS suggestions then i would love to hear what you think. i was thinking about hiring like a bodyguard but i really dont have any money......so like i said, this is real serious and i need help asap - we're both really freaked out and don't know what to do. He's huge, crazy and has easy access to guns.

Depending on how much love their is between the two of you, maybe you need to move on with your life before it's lost because of this guy.
You're right about the police and a restraining order. There is no where you can go to avoid problems, as you say this guy is a gangster/drug dealer. If you think he's going to come after you and your girlfriend, get some help to take him out if he starts to make the first move. You know that money given to the right people will give you the protection you need now. Alot of people don't agree with that, but fight fire with fire, the police can't and won't do anything until their is some reaction. There have been stories of alot of young ladies that have lost their life's going by the rules. It's times like this, that a gun on hand is the only answer for protection, just don't kill him, if needed, shot to protect yourselves and then the police can take it from there. Try not to let him make you live in fear, just make certain wherever you go, you are always ready to protect yourselves.

You are correct in the fact the police really can not do anything until something happens. Actually I would be more worried about you than her.
He probably will want to speak w. her and make some sort of point. In the male mind just killing her would not be the thing in the male mind...... a point needs to be made. You on the other hand are a different story.
I would suggest that she figures out who his parole officer is. She and you can express your concerns. Her name does not have to come up but when they explain to him what the deal is (since there is a restraining order) that even if someone else bothers her he will be implicated and be jailed.
If she even sees him she needs to call the police immediatly. She should put it on speed dial. No discussion, no anything. She sees him she calls..... period.

You said, "they (the police) are pretty much doing nothing about it." What do you suggest the police do? In your own words you said "he hasn't done anything yet." If the police took any action at this point, they would be accused of violating a citizens rights. Sorry, but that's the way it works. She has a restraining order, if he violates it, she needs to contact the police to take action. If the police don't respond to that, then you can complain about the police not doing anything. Otherwise stop whining. I get tired of listening to people complain about the police when they have no legitimate complaint.
If she is truly afraid he is going to come after her. It's her constitutional right to train and carry a firearm legally.

i would listen to the detective above-if the situation is as bad as you say it is then get a gun-and don't be frightened to use it-in fact get two guns and put one in the toilet-thats where most people run when in trouble in their home-also doing this has the added bonus that if the gangster gets in he will assume you have a firearm and go looking for it-he won't expect a second one to be hidden in the toilet. thats your backup.

If you knew he was getting out, why didn't you get a permit to carry and a gun and practice, practice, practice.
