To all Non Muslims, would you ever convert to Islam?

Question

Hi I am a Non-Muslim and I have no inclination to ever become a Muslim. I am happy with my religion and I am proud of it.

The reason I am asking you this question is that I just saw a documentary called "Muslim in the family" in which 4 Non Muslims converetd to Islam for various reasons and they all seem to be more religius than many Muslims that I know. I was just wondering if there are any more people like them? What is their motivation of giving up their own heritage? So on and so forth.

So what do you think -
Would you ever consider of becoming a Muslim?

If yes then how far would you go to be known as a Muslim, like would you start wearing traditional Muslim dress, think of emigrating to a Muslim country, give up music etc.?

If no, then why would you not choose to convert to Islam?

Please accept my thanks in advance and I hope I haven't offended any one. I am just trying to look at it from a Non-Muslim's point of view.

I am quite happy with my beliefs , I dont see me converting to any other religion in the near future ....but who knows what may happen
I doubt that if I did it would be to any of the Abrahamic faiths , as my beliefs are very different to them

however , if people convert to any of these faiths because it makes sense to them and bring them comfort ... then thats fine by me

If someone sat down and opened up the Qur'an and Baha'i Holy Writings, and proved to me that the Baha'i Faith is false, then I would become a Muslim in a heartbeat. However, proof is a fair requirement, don't you think? One can't be expected to convert without proofs, must know the reasons why X religion is false.

What a bunch of hateful, spiteful, so-called "Christians" answering this question! (I'm not talking about the non-Christians.) Shame on all of you who answered with snide comments. You have no knowledge of Islam, because if you really did, you'd revert. If you had full knowledge of Islam, you'd be Muslims now.

I would consider it, though as a belief system only, because like most organized religions there seems to be a disconnect between doctrine and practice. Clothes, memorized prayers, and food restrictions are more about impressing others than with being close to God.

As for converts being more religious than those born into it, I think this is true of any religion; those that grow up with it tend to take it for granted, and believe without questioning, whereas a convert takes nothing for granted. True faith requires independent study and continually questioning your beliefs- not regurgitating memorized prayers and verses and attacking the beliefs of others.

I don't understand the religion enough to make an educated decision. I have been brought up in a Christian society but I myself, although am aware of the teachings of Christ, do not class myself as religious or even Christian, for that matter.

If the religion made me happy and followed the same principles as Christianity, i.e. treat everyone as your equal and love thy neighbour, respect others etc. etc. then I would entertain the idea of converting.

This isn't just any particular faith, either...

No, I am a Christian and I have no intention of converting to any other faith.

Just an interesting piece of info: Muslims don't believe you convert to Islam, they say you are reverting because they believe every human is born a Muslim (peacefully submitting to God). This is in the sense that he/she follows the natural laws of God, which are often called ‘laws of nature’.

I'm not answering your question. But have you seen all that hate, invective, prejudice. Is that Christian? I don't think so.
Yes. I probably would have been prepared to convert to Islam when I was younger, but I would have been informed and I would have gone into marriage with a Muslim with my eyes open. I would have been informed because I studied Islam at Uni, and know where the truth is and where the 'interpretations' start - and I know this in Christianity as well.

I would not, I will also say I am not well educated on Islam, but it comes across to me a as a very male dominated, sexist religion. I would not at all be willing to cover up to be modest. I don't see any men covering up to me modest either. I also see Islam as an intolerant religion.

Converts are almost always the most zealous and evangelical. People born into a religion practice it more like brushing their teeth: just something that they were brought up with and taught as habit.
