panic disorder usually has it's roots in a childhood trauma of some sort....maybe even something that you have repressed and don't call readily to mind. Basically, the brain releases a flood of adrenaline into your system when the situation triggers the memory in your subconscious and you suffer the effects of the adrenaline, like shortness of breath, pounding heart, even chest pain. It is the "fight or flight" response of fear, basically. The good news is that adrenaline is a very short acting hormone, 15 minutes max, and knowing why it is happening helps you to control the reaction, by breathing deeply and slowly. The panic attack will pass quickly because breathing slowly limits the effects of the adrenaline.
To get at the root of the problem, you can go to a therapist, to identify it, but I doubt the therapist would be able to tell you what to do with it once you do identify it.....but again, good news, there is a program available now that will tell you how, in a very simple manner to rid yourself of all these subconscious emotions tied to repressed memories....I've taken the program myself, and it really does do wonders in a very short amount of time. Check it out...

did you ever have a bad experience with a stranger while walking down the street? if so this is probably why. Maybe it's because you've been tramautized? You don't say much about it but it sounds like it could be the case. You could also probably have social anxiety but does this only happen while on the street?

I can't tell you but you should see a therapist to help you understand your fear. it's not normal and you should not have to let it control you and your life. good luck

Maybe it is because you do not feel like talking or making eye contact with anyone and it scares you?
