So I leave in California and its stinking hot here, so the air conditioning is always on. I can't turn it off because a.) its too hot, and b.) my roommates wont have it. I'm getting an awful sore throught and coughing a bit...what can I do to get rid of it? Help! Thanks

This often is due to either dust or low humidity in the building/apartment. To fix this problem you can often drink water, dust clean the place or get a humidifier. The last mentioned will most likely help you, though the other two are also good things to do.

Clean the filter every day. You may also be having an allergic reaction to the local pollen or dust. House plants will help with the dust and dryness. Spider plants are some of the easiest to grow.

Go to WebMD.com and look up your symptoms... if you are still upset afterwards, see a real doctor. Bad asthma CAN lead to pneumonia -- mine did... and it also left me with chronic bronchitis. Don't let that happen to you.

air conditioned air is very dry air, it would likely benefit you to put a humidifier in your room at night.
