the bible tells that YHWH was a man and that he created man in his own image and then from mans rib he made a woman!
Conterary to this, the female, is the creator of life, via the egg, thus wouldn't it be prudent to assume God is a women? Hypothetically of course.

also the bible taught that man was made first, thus women were, by nature, second to the man. don't you think that this assumption has held the female of our species, back. many religions around the world still hold true to this notion, what does this say to Christian women about the creators of the bible and do they resent this fact? in short, do you women think you are second to man in the eyes of God?

In Genesis, there are two creation stories the one where man was made first and one where man and woman were created together. Also, God says, when creating man and woman, "Let us make man and woman in our own image" And so God created man and woman in their image. I am a Christian and I think that God is both masculine and feminine. I don't understand why a lot of christians discount this verse.

Women and men jointly contribute to reproduction, although women endure the far greater sacrifice (and perhaps the greater joy as well) in bringing a child into the world.

Of course, supernatural beings have usually been created in the image of those who conceived of them, as Herodotus noted regarding the gods of other nations having the ethnic traits of their people. And while religious institutions have been guided largely by men, the same tendency shows through.

Why should God have a sex at all? Does "He" or "She" reproduce sexually? Does "He" have a penis or "She" a vagina? What purpose would those serve?

Sex is not even among life forms of this world, so why should a world beyond conform to something that resulted from a particular evolutionary path here.

The said, religion guides through metaphors and imagery and it undoubtedly makes sense for believers to seek out pictures of the divine that resonate with them. At the same time, many will also insist that these are just images but that there is something more that is entirely beyond anything we might picture.

The opposite, let's face it, man wasn't complete without woman, therefore we are the pinnacle of creation! After he made Eve the world was in perfect balance, because God is male and female so he needed a man and a woman to represent Himself. The bible does sometimes refer to God as female, a mother hen for example, a nursing mother in another place. We are equal in God's eyes, but different, we are obviously made for different purposes. The only thing that might sound non PC these days is that the man is called to be the head over the woman, this is actually to protect us not to belittle us, as man is to be ultimately responsible for his wife and children in their walk with God. Sadly there are too many men these days who don't acknowledge their dependency on Him, so a lot of women are having to be the spiritual heads of the family, but the men will be ticked off for this.

I do not believe that when it says; God created man in his own image; it means that he reproduced a like form of Himself. I think it is a misinterpretation. For me what it means is that He produced man from Himself.
I also don't believe that "God" has any gender. Gender was created to provide the possibility of reproduction and duality.
I know there is a fashion for Goddess worship now, I think it has its place. I also think in balance so is God worship.
The male deity represents the "active" principle, the female deity the "passive" principle. Both are required for the reproductive or creative process to occur. Both are of equal importance in their own context.
So, the ultimate creator is neither but gives breath to both, and all three are are necessary to give birth to what we understand as subconscious, conscious and then physical life.
This is nearer the PreChristian concept of the Trinity.

I AM SOOO GOING TO DO MORE RESEARCH THIS!! Good question you get a star.... I believe that God is neither male or female... In Galatians 3:28 its says, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." So I think that after Jesus came that we were all seen in God's eyes as all the same... So no... I don't think that females are second in the eyes of God, but may be we just have different roles on what we are suppose to be doing here on earth. (but that's a whole other question on it's own : ) ... )

Hey God made women because he got it wrong the first time !!!!

Why should we feel secondary to man, who do you think you are, why would you even asume we would feel differently?

No seriously you do have a point, heres a fact why do men have nipples, they have them because for the first six weeks as an egg all babies are female until the male gene kicks in hence the breasts on men !!! so yes i suppose God could be a woman as why would they not be all male? God makes children in own image !!! WOMAN

Many religions, even Hinduism, which is older than Judaism, have female Gods. The Bible was written by men in a culture where females didn't have many rights, so of course their God is portrayed as a man.

In the west I can see your point. In the East the male is dominant and so your idea would not fit into their culture even now.
I would invite your attention to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer (the 1662 one sadly not used that often now )
The Lords Prayer: "Our father which art in heaven----" I think this gives the clue that God is not a sexual being but he created mankind which is. The father is a kindly loving God who gave us free will. God does not sens us to eternal separation we choose it for ourselves
