If you would like to email me with the name and place he lives in, I would do a search for him on your behalf, I wouldn't ask you to post the information as it is unethical to post information about a living person, and he has probably moved away from the area or something along those lines. You can email me through my profile, hope this helps.

I think I'd ask other local builders, or the builder's merchant he used if you know it. Assuming you have his address, why not check that out first? The only other thing I could suggest is to go onto find my past, buy some credits and do a seach of the death records which happily have been fully indexed since 1984.

Contact the Builders Association or Trade union and give them all the details. If the builder is dodging you they may be able to help you. If they guy is deceased they can still help you in some way.

You might try the business registration section of the county records. The newspaper obit section might have an index of deaths by month or year. If you have an address but can't go to it, send a registered letter.

Sounds like my contractor who has to be reminded to finish a job he starts.
I was going to recommend the Social Security Death Index but that might not apply if it WAS a recent death.
Other options are http://www.zabasearch.com
Word of mouth- have you tried talking to others in your neighborhood who may have used him as wel.
He may have relocated where there are more jobs or is too busy now to take on any more projects

Every big city will have an online obituary that you can search. But I tend to think you just got taken, dear. If he died, don't you think someone else at that business would make sure his current business clients would be notified?

you can go to the Social Security death index web site and type in their name. If their death was reported to SS it will show up.
