Both Joseph and Mary were descendants from a different son of King David. Check the genealogies of Jesus at Mathew and Luke to found out.
Mathew chapter 1 present one side coming from King Salomon son of King David (Mt 1:6).
Luke chapter 3, present the other side coming from Nathan son of King David Lk 3:23- 3:31.
The mother's names were not included in the jews genealogies lists, therefore both lists has Joseph's name.

Joseph was the legal father of Jesus and happened to be from the line of King David. And that was no coincidence!
Mary also could have been from the line of David since David's line was not like a tree trunk but with many branches.

If one believes that God brought about Mary to alter into pregnant by means of the stainless concept concept, then there is not any way that Jesus ought to be descended from David. If one believes that Joseph is the easily father of Jesus, then confident he could be descended from David yet then this eliminates the stainless concept concept and makes Jesus, purely the son of a guy. may be we ought to continually no longer over think of those issues.

Actually, both Mary AND Joseph were decended from King David... through different lines, of course.
Even though Joseph wasn't Jesus' biological father, he was still the man who was around to teach Jesus.... makes him pretty special to me, that God trusted him with His Son....

Even though Jesus' real father was God, his earthly "adopted" father had an influence in his upbringing, and Joseph was recognized for his part in parenting Jesus. The prophecy that Jesus would be born of the lineage of David was given in "earthly" terms.....for all "earthly" intents and purposes Joseph "adoption" of Jesus made that true.

Matthew 1
"...6and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,
7Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah,
16and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ."
They say that because He was a physical decendant of the lineage of David.

Well, Mary was also from the lineage of David. Read Luke 2:4,5
"Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, because he was of the house and lineage of David, TO BE REGISTERED WITH MARY, HIS "BETROTHED" WIFE, WHO WAS WITH CHILD.
Mary and Joseph were not yet married, but Mary was also registering in the City of David with Joseph, so that meant she was ALSO of the lineage of David.

There are two geneaologies in the gospels. One in the first chapter of Matthew, which is Joseph's; and the second one in Luke chapter 6, which is Mary's, going back through David to Abraham, Adam, and God Himself.

Jesus was born into the house of David by way of Joseph which in itself fulfills the prophesy. Jesus was also of the line of David by way of Mary. This prophesy is fulfilled it is not even close to debatable.

According to the genaealogy, both Mary and Joseph were descended of King David in separate lines...
See the genalogy of Luke that gives Mary's line...
