It depends on the actual format of the songs. They could be MP3, but they could be WMA or the itunes format which those Mac guys like to be exclusivist. So if they're not MP3's you're out of luck.

Probably not, because iTunes doesn't back up using MP3 format. You could create a CD in iTunes, but you need to convert the songs to MP3 format first.

By default iTunes uses a proprietary format.
