How much $ do U spend to get a free credit card flight?

I just got a World Points card and it's one dollar spent- one point earned. 25,000 points gets me a ticket anywhere in the US. How much do you have to spend to get a flight?

Airline miles work great for my family and I. We fly at least 3 time a year, and one of those times ends up being free. I am using Cap One right now and the way to figure there system out is to multiply the cost of the tickets by 80, and that's how many points you need. So typically for us we spend about 35,000 a year. It sounds like alot but we put EVERYTHING on this card, and pay it off completely each month. Using the card does'nt effect our budget at all. We would spend that money anyhow.

This October when we use our miles, I'm going to switch to my USAA American Express with Eagle Rewards. This card you would multiply the cost of the tickets by 50. This is a much better deal. Almost twice the rewards than our Capitol one Card. Now 35,000 spent will get us $700 in airfare where as Cap One would give us $437.

At any rate if you know your going to fly, you get more bang for your buck with air miles than cash back. Twice as much more. Cash back is typically 1 for 1 or 1.25 for 1 if you're lucky.

The usual is between $10,000 and $25,000 dollars. Honestly it is a better deal to apply for a card when the company gives you a certain number of miles to begin the account (i.e. 10,000 with your first purchase).

Ask yourself are you going to spend at least $25K on your credit card? Also it is important to note that with advance planning you can usually purchase a r/t ticket for $250-$299. Even at $500 for the ticket it means that you spent $50 on the credit card for every $1 that was spent on the airline ticket (25000/500).
