I noticed at both this past weekend and earlier in the year that the races were not sold out, there were empty seats. So, do you think they should have 2 when they can't sell out 1??

There is barely a million people in Ventura County, why in the world would they all want to drive down to Orange County when Ventura has better beaches?

I would like it if they kept two races in Fontana, but only because it would be easier for me. They had 70k people at the Cup race on Sunday, which considering all the other things people can do in So Cal, isn't that bad. The heat was unGodly, too. I was in the garage area and I can tell you that the biggest complaint that all the teams had was how expensive it is for them to come out here twice, and not have the stands full. They should make the second race later in the season, rather than Labor Day weekend. It's always too hot in Fontana on Labor Day weekend!

No,I don't think that Fontana should get a 2nd race .

They touched base on this on a Nascar show last weekend. I want to say it was Trading Paint ,but I'm not 100% certain . It was said that if Fontana can't sell out that they shouldn't have a 2nd race date .

I know that there are Nascar fan's on the west coast ,but feel that there are not as many as there are on the east coast .

I'm sure too that a lot of it has to do with the cost of getting to a race (hotel, gas, food) along with the race ticket's and souvenir's. Also I'm sure that it has to do with Nascar's constant rule changes and being in consistent with the rule's .So that may play a part of the lack of fan's at a race be it east or west coast .

I live in California....

I can tell you that if International Speedway Corp. which is owned by the France Family did not require you to buy the entire weekend package for all three races and charge over $310 to go.

They would probably find that more people would pay $100 to go to the Sunday Race.

Problem is they want to raise money for the Busch Race so they require us to by the whole thing and they have priced themselves out.

Las Vegas is the same way watch and see in another year after the be hype over the new track and fan view wears off.

Sad but true

I would like to see another race at Rockingham though it they fixed the place up.

Darlington would be good to if they could find a place for you to park.

Gordon Rules.

Even though they don't fill the seats at California NASCAR is trying to carve out it's market in the west. It would be great to just have one race there and go back to Rockingham for a race again but that's not going to happen. It has become too political with Brian France having an interest in the ISC and his sister being the president and vice chairman. Ownership of tracks and the running of NASCAR should be seperate entities but they are not. Favoritism and greed now dictate where they race more so than attendence, popularity and profitability. Pocono could do with one less race as well or they could at least shorten it, and the California race for that matter, to 400 miles.

I am all for moving the Darlington race to the labor day weekend and Fontana only getting one race. Nascar does not seem to understand that few people in southern California care about stock car racing.

I'm from Calif and there is just way to much going on out here for people to go..One thing the Sept race its to dang hot, there were over million people from Ventura county down to south orange county at the Beach on sunday.. Its a bad weekend.. I think they should only have 1 race.. Nascar has done alot to try to turn people into Nascar fans out here, way to much else going on... Its a spectator sport, so people who like Nascar gather in sports bars, or other peoples home to watch the race, rather than go.... I love Nascar, being originally from the south, I love it that we have a couple races to go to out here, but I'm sorry this race over labor day weekend belongs in Darlington SC, every seat in the house would be full, its a southern tradition back there, my dad and I went there every yr for 15 yrs. I think before long Nascar will come to its senses that two trips to Fontana is not needed...

I had been going to Fontana for 6 years and every year I had to bring more cash to pay for all the increases in Seats, infield parking, etc. I hate to see the BS come from the raceway about how 2 races are viable. Vegas and Phoenix are close enough to drive to and the track are not follow the leader.

I dont think they should have one race, let alone, two races. The race they have is boring anyway. They sould go back and run North Wilksboro and Rockingham. They always sold out and were never boring.

No. They should move one of them to us (Vegas).

First race was run there 1996 and sells out. A very hot ticket here.

edit: Sorry first Nextel race was 1998 track opened in 1996.
