In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Bless me Father for I have sinned. It's been _________ since my last confession. (Then you tell him how long since you've been to confession.) Then go ahead and list the stuff you've done. That's it!

You speak to God just as if you were apologizing to a friend that you had sinned against. Ask him to forgive you and help you to turn from that particular sin. Confession means to admit that you were wrong and you are sorry for it. Make sure that you name the particular sin and at the end of your prayer ask in Jesus' name. He is the one who will take your prayers to God because He is the one who has already paid the penalty for it.

Dear Heavenly Father, I confess that I have sinned against heaven and in your sight and need forgiveness. Thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins, according to the Scriptures, and I thank you for raising Him from the dead. Today I ask Him to come into my heart to cleanse me from my sin and become my Lord and Savior. I give myself to you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

Are you even catholic? Because they teach you that when you're eight or nine years old. Anyway, after you say that first part, the priest will prompt you, and then you begin naming off your long list of sins....yawn. Then, he tells you you're forgiven and you can go home and get drunk and beat your wife again. Just kidding, but that's what it seemed like, at least in my family.

There's no script. If you're in a church that has a script you need to get out. You simply need to come to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness.
Before he can forgive you, you need to deal with the issue of salvation. That is, he wants to restore a right relationship with you. This is done through believing that Jesus died to take the punishment for your sins, and simply expressing that to God. It is combined with a desire to follow Jesus instead of your own inclinations. If you don't get your relationship with God taken care of, then there's not enough prayers you can pray to get any sins forgiven.

its been.........since my last confession, O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee
and I detest my sins
above every other evil
because they displease Thee, my God,
Who, in Thy infinite wisdom,
art so deserving of all my love
and I firmly resolve
with the help of Thy grace
never more to offend Thee
and to amend my life.
Amen.
then you recieve penance
