Someone had a comment about a widower not having a husband. I think that there is an error in your question and you meant either you are "a widow" or your "deceased wife". However, if you married someone of your own gender, the then you collect based only on your own earnings record. You can collect for a deceased spouse only if you and the deceased are different genders.

You will get your social security benefits at retirement as well as your deceased husbands benefits. To be sure, contact your local Social Security Office in your area because you may have additional questions. You have my deepest regrets on the passing of your husband, you must now take care of yourself. Good luck and God Bless.

If you are a widower, then you must be a man, you therefore cannot have had a husband, deceased or otherwise.

You'll get whichever would give you the most money. yours or your benefit on your deceased husband's. You do not get both, as one responder incorrectly said.
