I am getting a tattoo on my inner wrist tonight and I wanted to know if there was any risk as far as maybe hitting a vein. They look like they are close to the surface so I wasent sure if there was any chance of hitting them if the artist has a heavy hand.

Ok for one the needle doesn't go that deep into your skin. The needle only goes as far as the dermis (2nd layer of your skin). the vein is under the 3rd layer of skin. it's under the fatty layer of skin (everyone has a fatty layer). So you should be fine. The thing is you might feel a little more because the tendens in your wrist sre right there. Still it won't injure them at all! You will be fine. I'm planning on getting one myself there too!

I have one in the same spot. There is no way to hit the vein. A little tip though, if you tattoo artist doesn't already suggest it...make sure he places it below the crease on your wrist. That way it wont fade in one place more than the others..

You have three layers of skin over that vein and a tattoo only goes into the first two....so you'll be fine. Good luck!

It will not hit any veins as tattoos don't go deep enough to even come close to them. You will be fine.

I have a celtic band around my entire right wrist, and I am none the worst for wear and tear!

I wouldn't worry to much about it.

I have a bracelet-style tattoo. No issue at all. I don't think the needle goes that deep.
