I have a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan that has been running fine. Suddenly the Temp gauge is rising to almost "H" and when it does this, the AC starts blowing out hot air. (AC works fine when you first get going) Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check to see if both electric fans are on when the air condition is going. IF not then there is a problem with the electric fan, or relay.

Sounds like you are overheating cause there is not enough cooling when the A/C is on.

The ac compressor is suppose to disengage if the coolant temp reaches a certain point. Check the serpentine belt to make sure it it tight and the tensioner is keeping it tight Check the pump bearings. Check coolant level. the radiator fans don't need to run out on the highway to keep temp normal, but if they don't come on in town, the van will run hot.

Did one a couple months ago. It's the cooling fan relay. They go bad on these vans commonly. It's bolted to the inner side of the left front frame rail back of the headlight. has 3 wires going to it with only one plug. they cost about 70 bucks at the dodge dealer.

Check your level of coolant, once the engine cools. If it isn't to the top of the radiator cap, fill with mixed coolant and then figure out why you where low. There's a leak somewhere, you just need to find it.
