Bringing pets into Germany from AUSTRALIA?

Hello, is there quarantine for dogs in Germany? I need information on bringing a dog from AUSTRALIA into Germany. Also information on bringing dogs into France and UK from Australia would be good too.

There are no exceptions to quarantine for dogs in the UK. Rabies is found in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. All dogs that have been in any of those must be quarantined in the UK. For Germany and France, check the quarantine laws for those countries. As they already have rabies, it should not be as harsh as the UK.

Whether Australia is exempt in the UK I don't know but I doubt it. If you're taking your dog to Germany first, it matters not. It will be quarantined in the UK.

For Germany you need an international vaccination passport for your dog. A rabies vaccination should be documented. the vaccination should not be younger than 30 days, and not older than 12 months at the time you come to Germany.
France has the same directive regarding vaccination, plus the pet must be identifiable by a chip or tatoo.
Perhaps you should also ask about quarantine for your dog when you come back to Australia from a country that has rabies.

To make life easier for yourself if you plan on doing a lot of travel with your pets, you need to get pet a pet passport (see your vet or look online) - with that, it can travel between any countries in the scheme without having to be quarentined. Without the pet passport I know there is 6 month quarentine for pets in the UK.
