Does anyone know what REALLY helps for acne. I have been struggling with it for a while and its so depressing. It comes and goes. I dont have terrible acne, basically i get a lot of white and black headand then they come out . The other thing with me is that I get those under the skin so they really never go away completely. I went to a dermatologist for about 3 years and I got sick of going cause nothing worked and all he ever did was change my prescriptions. Any help? thanks to all before hand

Aloe vera mixed with 2 drops of tea tree essential oil works really well and has been shown in studys to improve acne. Doing scrubs is not good for acne at all because it irritates so I use warm oatmeal with a little bit of honey to exfoliate which is more gently. A french "green" clay mask works very well also. It removes impurities from deep within and your acne may get worse before it gets better using the french clay. You should try an organic cleanser. (You can get them at a health food store.) I use a herbal astringent recipe from "The herbal body book" by Stephanie Tourles which you can get cheap on half.com. Works really good and is so soothing. Try taking vitamins A, E, D, C, Bcomplex (or B5) vitamin & Zinc, Hope this helps!!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Find an acne treatment that has benzoyl peroxide in it. I have found it to be the only stuff to really work. I use 10% for spotting. My acne isnt THAT bad but it still gets pretty harsh and benzoyl peroxide is my savior. I just dab blobs on and leave it over night. Also sometimes lotion actually helps. And applying hot water is also good. But if you've been seeing a dermatologist then you've probably tried all this. With the under the skin types, ice is good to swell them down a tad. But really, I am not sure, I always end up making scabs out of them :S...which isnt good. If all fails, dont worry, obviously oil free concealer is always available and even though acne may make you feel ugly sometimes, a lot of people suffer from acne who are still gorgeous!! Besides, look on the brightside, popping pimples is oddly fun. :P

Consider Accutane (isotretinoin). It's a very strong prescription medication so you need to really think it over. Accutane reduces oil production but it can cause birth defects, so women who take it must abstain from sex or be very diligent about birth control. However, it is really effective for cystic acne.

About accutane: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/Acne/Should-I-take-isotretinoin-for-severe-acne

Some women find that birth control pills help clear their complexion.

You might also be dealing w/ a combination of acne and rosacea. Information about rosacea: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/rosacea/DS00308

Do some research about the latest treatments. Make a list of all the medications you've used and consult a new dermatologist. Let the new doctor know what you've tried & how it hasn't worked. Ask about new, alternative treatments.

Steam your face over a big bowl of boiling water then splash on ice cold water. Repeat this process about 5 times for a homemade facial Try using little or no moisturiser as this will just block your cleaned pores causing blackheads. The milk & lemon juice answer sounds good too.
