For dirty work, like wiping counters. Or do they just hang there and look pretty for drying hands? Just curious.

I use plain white cotton flour sack towels...they're bigger than regular dishtowels, more absorbent, and can be bleached to get out tough stains. They can also be used in place of cheesecloth in cooking and they're great for rolling out dough or when dampened, keeping phyllo dough moist.

Some are big enough to tie around your waist to use as an apron (or around the neck of messy eaters).

In many cases they're cheaper than regular dishtowels you can get a package of 6 of them for about 15.00.

I, my wife, has a set for show and a set for using.
However, they don't touch the dishes since dishtowels are harbingers of bacteria. I do use them to wipe off counter tops and dry spills.

I always use mine. I have a whole stack of them, so needless to say they get stained and spotted quite easily. It's one of my favorite little gifts to get.
I try using paper towels, but since the dish towel is always there I end up using it all the time.
I guess the worse part of it is I ALWAYS have dirty ones, and I hate to wash them with anything else other than dishtowels.

The only dish towel I own is one I received in a gift basket from a doctor for Christmas that contained various kitchen items. I don't use it in the kitchen.. I use it in my laundry room. I place my liquid detergent cup on the dish towel so the detergent doesn't get all over the dryer. I will only use it in the kitchen if I happen to run out of paper towels.

I have "kitchen" towels that I use to wipe my hands on, wipe dishes dry with, etc. And then I have the decorative towels that nobody touches under threat of death!

Yes I use them. I have one for drying dishes and another for hand washing. I use the dish rag to wipe up messes.

I usually use them for when I clean out the microwave, just to dry the inside. Sometimes I use them to dry my hands.

I use them all the time especially when baking anything that has to rise (like) bread dough or pizza dough.

I usually use special ones for that though.

I find them to be handier than paper towels because papertowels you use one throw it away and so on thats a pain. lol
