I would like to purchase a high quality blender and am looking for suggestions. It would be used most often for making smoothies, frozen drinks, and blending soups. Must be able to blend ice without leaving big chunks or burning out. Thanks!

The link below should give you some great suggestions.
It rates the best of each catergory:
Cheap, Budget, High End, Commercial ect.
I personally have an Oster Combo Blender that comes with food processor attachment. Uses the same blender base, but has the food bowl that sits on tip. It get's a constant work out in our house, and has held up very well. You want to look at wattage as to how strong the blender is for ice crushing. The higher the better. Good luck.

According to Consumer Reports, the highest rated blender is a Vita Mix which scored 85 points out of 100 with an "excellent" in ice crushing. Any blender that can handle ice will be able to handle any other job you give it unless of course you're pulverizing bricks (they do make blenders that can do that, but they're not available to general consumers, but they're a heck of a lot of fun if you have a destructive side!).

The Vita Mix costs $400.00 but there are some other blenders that cost less that also got an "excellent" in ice crushing:

The $80.00 Oster Counterforms BVLBO7-L
The $150.00 George Foreman Brainstorn GFSB1 (who knew he made blenders too?)
The $80.00 Oster Fusion BRLY07-Z
The $130.00 Waring MBB5[18]
The $40.00 Farberware Millenium FBL500[SS]

I'm a smoothie person and I use my blender on daily basis to mix fruit and prepare delicious drinks for me and my family.

Vitamix and Blendtec are awesome but too expensive if you can't afford a $400+ blender.

I was looking for a powerful and versatile blender at a reasonable price and after many research and reading reviews, I chose the Ninja professional Blender.

You can find my personal review of this excellent blender here:

Cheers!
