Why are you shampooing your cat at all??? Cats clean themselves!

If your cat has gotten into a mess, simply wipe him down or use plain water to rinse the mess.

Do not bathe your cat on a regular basis. Any chemicals left over from the shampoo will be ingested by the cat, as he will, undoubtedly, clean himself anyway!

Additionally, unlike dogs, cat do not stay warm when wet. Their fur is different and does not create the air pockets needed for warmth. If you look at a wet cat and a wet dog, you will see a huge difference. The fur on the cat will be completely drenched and stick to the skin, unlike the fur of a dog.

You can dilute your shampoo with water and use it to wash kitty. Rinse it off completely and use an equal parts vinegar to water rinse at the end making sure your cat has no cuts or nicks in his skin before you do.

I have found pet shampoos and human baby shampoo much too harsh. I prefer a moisturizing human shampoo on the rare occasions I have to wash a cat. I find that they lather up better, clean better and so I use much less of them than a pet shampoo.

I only use water around the head and have never experienced any problems with the cats or dogs washed this way. They come out fluffy and sweet smelling.

Fauna sells a natural shampoo made for humans and pets. I haven't tried it. I personally like the moisturizing version of Finesse.

No! But ONLY if your vet says so. I use baby shampoo on mine. Its keeps the cat healthy and its coat glimmering!! If you don't want to use baby shampoo them just use normal cat shampoo. But I wouldn't take the risk of using Herbal Essences-Hello Hydration on your cat. Even if my vet said so, I'd stick to the baby shampoo. Or Cat Shampoo.

You probably should not use Herbal essences shampoo on your cat but you could use dawn dish soap or baby shampoo it gentle on skin and if your cat has flea dawn dish soap kills them better than most cat shampoos

If you don't have a cat shampoo I would recommend Johnson's Baby shampoo, this is very safe and you don't have to worry if you get it in their eyes, it won't burn.

Many people use Dawn dishwashing liquid for kittens with fleas but you have to be careful not to get it in their eyes.

Regarding your own Herbal Essence shampoo, it might be OK but it could have harmful ingredients in it as it wasn't meant for cats but humans. Check out this link for an opinion about herbal shampoos:

You probably don't need this but here are some bathing tips(also about shampoo and conditioning). My cats need baths so infrequently that I often re-read this myself when bath time comes around:

Well, Human Shampoo tends to create alot of problems with animals .. I would suggest cat shampoo.

your shampoo, can cause serious itching problems.

If you don't have cat shampoo on hand, the best thing to do;

Mix a 1/3 cup regular Shampoo (herbal essences)
Mix a 1/2 cup conditioner..
Stir thoroughly

Whala!

Better stick with cat shampoo unless you want scratching issues to start. Any soap can give your cat diahrrea too if you don't get it rinsed out well. They will clean theirselves immediatley after getting out of bath anyhow. Unless the cat is very dirty I would let it clean itself. Works much better for them. If you only have your shampoo and the cat HAS to be shampooed. Rinse the cat with equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water to remove soap residue. This works well on human hair too. So soft.

No, I would not advise this. This can cause cat dander, skin irratition, and other skin issues for your cat. I would use a shampoo designed for cat/dog coats. You can normally find these at your grocery store or at a pet store for at or under $10. I have to use a specialty pet shampoo (costs about $20) on my Maine Coon cat, because he gets really bad skin irratition when I use normal pet shampoos on him. I can't imagine the problems he would have if I used a human shampoo on him.....

Have fun bathing your cat! *if she has claws, make sure you wear a sweat shirt or she may get ahold of your skin with her claws! Trust me on this, a sweat shirt will save you from many cuts!

No, cats have very sensitive skin. There is a good chance your cat will have a bad reaction. Cat shampoo is cheap.

Alternatively, most healthy cats don't need to be bathed regularly. If your cat is dirty, you could try just rinsing him/her off with warm water.
