My cell phone battery isn't holding a charge like it used to. I heard that you can carefully slam it on a hard surface to break up established memory or putting it in the freezer overnight. I'd rather not take the time to charge it all the way and drain it all the way 3-5 times or spend the money on a reconditioner. Any suggestions? Thank you!

If you have a lithium ion battery, the expected lifespan of it is two years from date of manufacture. If you are getting close to that, there is NOTHING you can do to make things better. Also, if you have been fully discharging the battery, this is also NOT recommended. Full discharges actually decrease the life of a lithium ion battery. Lithium ion batteriers actually do better if charged more frequently. I usually charge mine when I get to 50%.

DO NOT slam the battery on anything. You will damage the battery and the potential for leakage, fire and explosion are possible.

Gee, how can I put this nicely ....

Whoever told you that stuff is a moron.

Both activities have great potential to destroy the battery. Slamming it can actually cause an explosion or fire. Freezing it will surely ruin the battery.

Don't ever listen to whoever told you that.
