For ratings and the interest of the casual fan they absolutely would prefer that Jr makes it in. Many fringe fans will not care near as much with him out of the chase and it will surely affect TV ratings and possibly even attendence. They won't do anything underhanded to facilitate that but believe me they would like for him to make it.

They told on a recent episode of "Nascar Now" that Jr only has a 5% chance of making the Chase .
I hope that Nascar doesn't make it so he will make the Chase this year. I mean he missed it before and now we have it with 12 driver's instead of 10 like it was to start with . Some have said that there is talk of having a fan vote in for a 13 driver ,which I think is just WRONG!!!!!!!!!!There should be NO favoritism ,as Nascar wouldn't do it for any other driver.
If a Jr can't get in on his own, then like they say about the other driver's ...theres always next year

That would be hard to say just what Nascar really wants. He has a lot of fans and they want to see him make it. I don't think they'll pull special favors for him though. If anything they do the opposite. I believe they changed the10 to 12 because Stewart didn't make it one year. Also Gordon didn't make it one year. If all of Jr's fans were to not watch the remaining chase races of the year then that may effect sponsors and advertisings and ratings. What ever happens happens.

NASCAR I also hope is unbiased but TV exec's are sure hoping he is in the chase. Look at Darrel Waltrip who battled constantly with Jr's father and neither of them liked each other too much, he calls him "June Bug." If his old man didn't die he would be at best struggling to keep his ride. Since he inherited all of his old mans fans and he also pulled all of the casual observers he is "The Man" when it comes to pulling in the $$. Look at what he has done over the past two season and what Kyle Busch has done over the past two seasons just the numbers and tell me who would help a team more....The problem is is that Sponsorship Dollars are more important than winning in today's NASCAR.

I think everyone is pulling for Jr. to make the Chase, I know I am. NASCAR is going to make money whether Jr. makes the Chase or not.
I think some of the announcers give too much of their own opinions instead of the facts. It's really sad that they don't cover ALL of the drivers instead of their favorites. There are only a few drivers that I do not care for, but even they deserve recognition!!!

As a Dale Jr fan, I would love for him to make the chase, will he, not likely. I am sure Nascar would want him, just because he is so popular, but I don't think they will make a special "rule" for him. They didn't the year that he and Jeff Gordon didn't make the chase, so I don't see them doing it now.
If they had wanted him in the chase, they wouldn't have fined him a 100 points earlier in the year for violations on his car.

I'm sure a Junior victory would be a marketing boon, not to mention a made-for-Hollywood script.
That said, we can all rest in the assurance that no favors will be done to get him there on anything other than his effort. I think Junior himself would accept nothing else.
BTW- judging from some of the other responses, it never ceases to amaze me how an answer to a question like this can turn into a slam on Gordon. The only real whiners I see in NASCAR is the anti-Gordon crowd.
It will suck to be you when Gordon gets his 5th Cup come November. (Now this would never be here if ya'll just left it alone).

Nobody babies Jr. and he doesn't get any special treatment. If he does wrong he gets punished just as much as the other drivers....When he slipped and said s*** because he was excited and happy ...They slapped a 25 point deduction and 10,000 dollar fine on him...you didn't hear him bi***** about it, but the fans sure did...and so did I.... He has had a run of bad luck but you haven't heard him crying or whining like Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon...even K Busch and Robby Gordon....
You never hear Mark Martin whining either ...Just because his dad was a great driver...and yes he did things that were a little out there and had money.....people put pressure on him to do the same...well Hello!!!! he isn't his dad , so stop trying to put him in the same category as his dad...let him be his own person....and if he loses ...thats life....he'll keep trying as he has before. He is a good driver but he isn't Dale Sr. he is Dale Jr......let him be and that goes for Teresa also....
Tony is a good driver but he has a tendency to whine a bit..
I am a die hard Jr fan and will pull for him until I die!! I still hope and dream he will be in the chase but if he doesn't , he gave it his best and thats what matters....GO LITTLE E....Jr all the way!!!!
There is one driver who doesn't get a lot of recognition and deserves it...its Matt Kenseth...he is a good and safe driver...

i'm a die problematic Dale Jr fan, he needs to win right now and get no longer something yet precise 10's and he needs some drivers from 8th to twelfth place have a ton of undesirable success. Now if all that occurs, then confident i think of he does have a raffle, yet he somewhat needs some wins, Daytona and Chicagoland are coming that are super for him, he has had precise 10's at Loudon.. I in no way supply up on him, reason a real fan sticks by ability of their motive force no rely how decrease back it gets. flow Dale Jr & Hms

I hope that Nascar is a little more unbiased than that. If that were the case, I think they would have been lenient with him on the points fines at the beginning. It is still mathmatically possible but highly unlikely that he will make it this year. I believe they still give a bonus to the first man out so he will still make an extra million and go on to next year. He can still win races and fans with what is left with this year.
