A high SPF sunblock should be a priority. And even then a 2 year old should not be in direct sunlight for too long.

First thing is of course waterproof Sunscreen with an SPF no less than 30. A nice spray bottle with fresh water is nice for a quick cool down. Drinking water, beach toys, a hat that will stay secure on his little head, if possible a beach umbrella too.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen. Maybe a waterproof fling camera. Depending which beach you go to, soap and shampoo for when you are finished. Many parks have shower houses to get the sand washed out of your hair and body. Try to pack a decent lunch. Your day could end quickly if anybody got hungry and you have no chow and drinks. Snorkels and masks can be fun, as can cheap boogie boards, even if there are no waves. pails and shovels are, of course, fun for a two-year-old, and if you're going to the Gulf of Mexico, you can use your shovel and pail to look for sharks teeth. And swim goggles. You don't want that water in your child's eyes, assuming he'd wear the goggles, of course.

First aid kid that includes tweezers and a needle. This is a must. I can't tell you how many times I used it with my ex's kids during a summer. Everything from digging broken seashells out of feet to bee stings, to sunburns...the list was endless. Aloe Vera gel is another must.

Don't forget to pack extra towels from home....even though they may have them where you are staying....its easy to run out. Make sure to pack all the essentials...of course, shampoo....soap......lotions.....medication if you are on any....hair dryers if you use one....curling irons.....hair brush....toothpaste...etc. LOL.....sorry was creating my own list there I believe. MAKE A LIST!!! Trust me....it always seems you remember what you needed most....when you are half way to your vacation spot.

Sun block, for sure, but throw in his favorite toy and his blanket or pillow. The smell of his own bedding will help him sleep better away from home.
Have fun!
