This I dont really understand he was being called out by other men so they could have their way with him sexualy and then the person that housed him offerd his Virgin Daughter and the mans concubine. so they took the concubine and sexually abused her all night til early morning and let her go. She went back to the house and lay at the door step and when her master came out they left and he went home with her and cut her into tweleve pieces limb by limb. and sent her body parts out to the town!
Why did he do this. Why did she have to die when he was the one who gave her to those men to abuse her. Was he teaching the land a lession by sending all her body parts to the town i dont understand it just made me feel really sad and think of alot of things that seem wrong with some of the things I read in the Bible I dont know need understanding Help!

First of all, remember this was a MAN that did this and NOT by God's words was he told to...
"The Levite literally cut his concubine into 12 pieces, one piece for each tribe. Doing so, he sought to mobilize the tribes of Israel to assemble for a judicial hearing. The purpose of the hearing was to determine the disciplinary action they should take against the perverted men of Gibeah and the Benjamites who supported them."
NKJV Bible
trying to understand the ways of that time can be disturbing, but in the Levite's eyes, he was doing justice.
Remember to read EVERYTHING BEFORE AND AFTER this chapter to help get a better understanding and ALWAYS ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to show you.

I don't know the traditions of the people in those times. But lets say the man did as you said and buried her. What would have happened? I'm assuming nothing. The act was horrible and the man wanted all the tribes to know it. They then acted on the crime. The world wasn't a pleasant place before Christ. We aren't perfect today either. Look at the news. At least these people reacted the way you reacted. It's almost like reading an ancient news paper. It shows how vile men can get. At least we have the Holy Spirit today. How much worse would it be without that.
Edit: I think you're looking too hard for a meaning behind a hideous crime. The crime was committed. The man wanted a response from the other tribes of Israel. Why is this story in the Bible? I guess we'll need a Jewish scholar to answer that. It is in the Bible and it is a part of the history of Israel. Does it affect our relationship with God? Does it change who God is? Not for me.
Jud 19:
30 And so it was that all who saw it said, “No such deed has been done or seen from the day that the children of Israel came up from the land of Egypt until this day. Consider it, confer, and speak up!”

There is no such scripture as Judges 22,29 -- that book only goes to chapter 21 and verse 25. The one your question refers to is Judges 20:6.

A problem that many have with reading the Torah, Bible, and Dead Sea Scrolls, is that they do not understand some of the passages are not literal and others are; to gain understanding of scripture the reader has to look at the whole chapter - sometimes even the entire book. The Bible is a compiling of various scrolls written by people over a 1500 year period and then was placed together into one book. In Greek bibilio is (Book). So, The Bible literally is In the original Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT) the scrolls were not divided into chapters and verses, that was done so reading and referencing scripture is made easier on us.

If I recall correctly, the concubine actually died after being "used" all night by the people in the town. Her "master" didn't kill her and then cut her up.
Of course, just the fact that her "master" actually threw her out to the crowd to save himself is pretty sick. In fact, according to that story, it would appear that her "master" was regarded as perfectly justified in undertaking such a perverse action.
This story is just one example of how immoral the authors of the Bible really were. Its a sick book and a sick religion.
Actually, if you read a little further, the whole story gets even more perverse. After the other tribes of Israel butcher all the women and children, (and most of the men), in the tribe of Benjamin, they decide that they don't want the tribe of Benjamin to die out. However, they had already taken oaths not to allow their daughters to marry the few surviving men of the tribe of Benjamin.
So, they are faced with a problem - how do they keep the tribe of Benjamin from dying out when the tribe of Benjamin no longer has any women and all the surrounding tribes are sworn not to intermarry with them.
In the end, they realize that a certain small town did not send any warriors to help fight against the tribe of Benjamin. So, the Israelites go to that town and slaughter all the men, women, and children - except the young unmarried women.
Then the Israelites give all the young women from the slaughtered town to the Benjaminites so that they can keep the tribe of Benjamin alive.
Horribly enough, Jehovah doesn't condemn the slaughtering of the small town and the kidnap and rape of its daughters. This all seems to be perfectly fine with him! Its sickening really. How could anyone want to worship a perverted evil god like this?
Sorry if you don't like seeing people "bash" your bible or god, but the fact of the matter IS that these verses show very clearly that your bible and your god are sick and evil. No one is going to be able to help you understand these verses if you are not willing to accept the truth. The true explanation is that it is a _false_ religion and its scriptures are perverted and sick. All the other explanations by "religious" people are going to be nothing more than pathetic attempts rationalize away this fact.
When you are studying parts of the Bible that are normally ignored by churches, you are going to come across a lot of horrible stuff like this. Don't you wonder how someone like me - who is obviously not a christian - would know about these verses? I know about them because I _used_ to believe in your religion. I used to be a christian - until I started to really study the Bible and discovered all the horrors that are hidden beneath the surface of christianity.
Some people are too scared to think for themselves and they manage to convince themselves that those parts of the bible have some sort of good explanation. However, they don't have a good explanation. Anyone who is honest with themselves will eventually realize how horrid this book is. Unfortunately, most people are not able to be that honest with themselves. They would rather live a lie and worship evil.

I cannot locate this in Judges right now. What chapter are you reading this in?
I think after she was abused (and probably died) she was cut into 12 pieces and her parts were sent out to the 12 tribes of Israel. This started a civil war (11 tribes against the tribe of Benjamin). I think the intent was to get the tribes united as one nation again.

The bible remains true regardless of what we think.
Sin is the root cause of this episode in Scripture........this wasn't God's doing.
We may not understand every little iota of Scripture......but then again....we're not called to understand it completely.....we're called to believe it by faith to be truth
