I would like a tried & true recipe (or two) for an easy to make snack that is also yummy. If it travels well, that would be a big help. Thanks a lot.

- Peanuts and raisins mixed together (the peanuts are protein and slows down the sugar from the raisins from raising your blood sugar)
- Celery sticks filled with either cream cheese or peanut butter
- Apple sliced and put back together, wrapped in saran - keeps it from browning.
- Carrot and celery slices with a little packet of Ranch Dressing (can pick up an extra at your local takeout)
- Orange sliced and put back together - wrapped in saran
- tupperware container with chopped fruit in it with a little fruit dip made with marshmallow creme, cream cheese and vanilla. Put on top of the fruit.

Salted Almonds.

Olive oil -6 tablespoons
Blanched Almonds -250g/8 oz
Sea Salt.

Heat the oil in a small, heavy frying pan and stir fry the nuts in batches over a medium heat until evenly browned.

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the nuts to a bowl and season with plenty of sea salt. Stir to coat the nuts.
These nuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

i was once invited to a movie-party with friends. Since the movie was a re-play of the old "Blazing Saddles" and it only cost a buck to get in... we decided we didn't care if we got thrown out and were going to bring food and beverages in. My friends snuck in tiny bags of Doritos and little airplane bottles of alcohol, while lo and behold... I walk in with my backpack over a shoulder with everything from Sicilian olives, smoked Gouda, summer sausage and whatnot. I also had a pick-six of import beers and even a mini cutting board which i sliced and passed around. I never thought of how impressive the impromptu spread was going to be, and when i passed around the hor devorves and chilled imports-i was showered with compliments. The contrast to my classy snack in a run-down theatre was hilarious. It became one of our best times together.

Snacks can be just as delightful as any fancy meal. Simply close your eyes and ask yourself: "What food would go perfect with this occasion? If an assortment of exotic fruits pops into your head, then get some and get slicing... if a tray of cold cuts hits you... run with it. In 5 minutes you can make your own try that everyone will adore, as opposed to some boring bucolic stuff you'd get in the party section of the store.

Live on the edge or move closer to it.

I'm very partial to homemade trail mixes. My favorite is to mix a bag of M & Ms with a jar or can of party peanuts, and add raisins, or even chocolate covered raisins. You can make snack mixes any way you like with any mixture of dried fruits and nuts and shredded coconut or seeds. Use your imagination and go for it.
