it comes from the air,
then the air gets more water from things you have in your room such as books, walls, furniture, and you, then your dehumidifier gets that water as well.
by the way, I have tried sterilizing the water from the air and drinking it, but it tastes very bad, put it through a britta filter first.

I know what u r saying, yes the pipes freeze and then defrost just like the freezing plates in a freezer and that produces a small amount of water but the moisture in the air is the thing that is making your 5 litres, 5 litres is quite a lot but it depends how damp the room is.

If you had a room at 70 Deg. F with a relative humidity of 73%, that air would contain 0.000835 pounds per cubic feet of water vapor.
You collected 5 liters of water from you dehumidifier, = 0.176 cubic feet of water x 62.4 = 11 pounds of water.
11 pounds of water/0.000835 pounds of water per cubic foot of air = 13,173 cubic feet of air that were circulated thru your dehumidifier in 15 hours.
15 hour = 900 minutes
13,173 cubic feet/900 minutes = 14.6 cfm of air circulated over your coil if it were 100% efficient, which isn't a lot of air.

The unit probably uses Freon in sealed coils to cool the air. So all water is from the air.

As the refrigeration unit is a closed system, the water has been extracted from the air. (A refrigerant doesn't contain water. The humidity must be very high).

It all comes from the air. I used to live in an old terraced house that had damp & would have to empty my dehumidifier every other day.
Moved to a more modern house, don't use one now.

That water comes from the air. That's what condensation is.
