2And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. (KJV)

Seems several answerers do not see the two classes.

One class whose abode is the air and earth and are free to war against the saints (Eph. 6:12), and others who are imprisoned in the Abyss (Jude 6; 2 Pet. 2:4; Luke 8:31; Rev. 9:1-3)

Well, because demons come in all shapes & sizes. Then there are other spiritual wickednessess.

Satan is the big red dragon whose tail dragged 1/3 of the angels out of heaven. These are rebellious angels who had wings. Winged Cheribims. And they are satan also. But the demons are believed to be the offspring of the women who were raped by angels in Genesis6. Because after the flood, their spirits float around.

There are a lot of spiritual wickednessess & you can sum them up as the big red dragon the fallen angels & the demons.

The fallen angels are bound in chains of gloom & the demons are the ones who possess. Then there is satan who can possess someone (like Judas). And He is the top dog. The dragon or one of the fallen angels. Demons possess people & many demons can possess one person. They can be as small as a needle head or larger.

The devil isn't in the abyss yet. Jesus throws the devil & his messengers into the abyss before the millinnium reign of Christ. Though there are demons bound in hell right now. I don't know if the abyss is hell or not. I think it is. The Beast & false prophet get thrown into the lake of fire, the 2nd death.

Sorry Sara, but I don't see anything in the scriptures you quote that indicates different 'classes' of demons.

The verses in Jude 6 and 2 Peter refer to the same angels that made a choice contrary to their created purpose. By doing so they became what the Bible refers to as 'wicked spirits', or 'demons'.

The verses in Ephesians help us to appreciate that these wicked spirits, along with their ruler, referred to in the Bible as Satan, or the Devil, have a vast organization working behind the scenes in this world. The 'governments', 'powers' and 'world rulers of this darkness' all refer to these wicked spirit creatures. The Bible does mention different types of angels. Arch angel (Rev. 12:7; Daniel 12:10), Seraphs (Isaiah 6:2,6), Cherubs (Ezekiel 10:1-22) and angels in general, mentioned many times.

However, there is nothing that indicates different classes or rankings among demons. Just different ways in which they are referred to.

The book of Tobit from the Apocrypha part of the Catholic Bible contains a very detailed account of the Archangel Raphael as told by Tobias, Tobit's son. This is important because RARELY does an angel identify itself when it walks among us.

There was Lucifer and Satan who was his assistant in administrative duties and then there were angels and midway creatures who aligned themselves with Lucifer. Caligastia was the planetary prince of earth.

The Bible portrays these beings as demons, when in reality they were not made to be demons. They are all celestial beings. Some have repented and were forgiven. They were given the same grace that we are given.

Those who did not repent are now in isolation and they do not have free reign over the earth.

According to Christian theology, demons are nothing more than fallen angels. Since there is a hierarchy in angels, it stands to reason that there is a hierarchy in demons as well.

They have ranks. But I don't know exactly what you mean by "two kinds". It seemed like it was describing Satan, and then also his angels.

Since we're talking "Fiction" here, anyway, I'd like to inform you that there are actually THREE "classes" of Demons:

Your two, and then Mine, from MY world:

Lord Sesshomaru and Inuyasha!

because the bible was written by man not god and we all make mistakes.....if you think about it there really are no such thing as demons. if there is a god, the one we know and love then we must believe that he would never create a demon in the first place and man just put this notion of 'demon' out there to scare us into doing what they want and believing what they want us to believe. god put us here to experience everything, why would he create rules. we are ment to do what makes us happy and full our souls. not cower in fear!!
