So when God ordered them to leave the Garden of Eden, why didn't they just say, "No way, we like it here."?

Sal - so why didn't God just put the chubby babies and swords guarding the tree of knowledge? Issue solved. He didn't really think things through, did he?

LoL, that's a good question. Maybe God poked them in the back with his Sabre or something to prod them along. I never thought about that, what a great question!

Possibly they recognized that God was more powerful (to understate the case) than they were? There are certain decisions that free will doesn't apply to. We didn't choose to be born, and when God finally says "it's time to leave the earth", we won't be able to say, "No way, we like it here".

They probably didn't know that outside the Garden of Eden, things would be different. They were pretty ignorant after all.
