To OCD sufferers who can't do well in school: How do you manage with grades and some judgemental classmates? Do you think we should stop schooling since it affects our performance so badly? Is there still hope??? My OCD really interferes w/ school and i dont know if i can pass all the time... for those who don't have treatment yet, what are you planning to do about your OCD? and school??? are u planning to get treatment or leave it like that? oh pls help me!!!!!

Don't give up. Please... you can get through this, you can recover, you can have a good life.

My sister was diagnosed with severe OCD when she was very young, just a kid. She's struggled with anxiety her whole life. The Prozac takes care of her rituals and compulsions, but she still has obsessive thoughts sometimes and a large amount of anxiety.

Despite her struggles, she graduated from college with an A average and the leading role in her school's fall theater production. She's managed to face her stage fright/anxiety, her test-taking anxiety, her paper-writing anxiety... all of it.

It took her longer than normal to get through school, and I know it was HARD for her, but she did it.

You can too. Don't give up.

I have really bad ocd. I hate it at school. My hallways are full of cracks, and it's not clean enough. I get confused about which paper is correct and the teachers keep seating me on the wrong side of the classroom. Worse still is how everything can't all be in threes. It makes me feel like I'm giving speeches all the time. But you got to keep working at it. To be honest I don't think I could without medication. But for some people it goes away on its own. (in less serious cases I think.) I usally just make up jokes and pretend I'm being goofy, when really I'm counting in my head. I know how you feel though. The way I deal with it is I avoid too many after school activities so I can just calm down from all the stress. It's a bad habit but I take naps after school it just seems to help a lot. But stay in school.

My 14 year old son takes Lexapro and Ritalin for his OCD. If he didn't he would be really struggling in school. Please use medication if you need to. There is no shame in it. If you had diabetes would you leave it untreated? OCD is just another disease that needs to be treated just as seriously as any other. Medication can make school and life more easier for you.

Luvox, has been known to really treat the symptoms of OCD...there is hope, as this is a chemical imbalance, and lack of serotonin...that the Luvox replaces..go see your doctor, and tell him that you heard that this was a lifesaver, ..take it from a mom that knows
