Not usually. Flats and canvases both let the feet breathe easier than gym shoes or sneakers. I know when I wear canvases, I wear athletic socks, so while it may appear I'm barefoot, I'm really not. That could be the case with that kind of shoe. Flats are meant to be worn without socks, generally. They are made of material that doesn't suffocate the foot, so you really have to be working out to have smelly feet afterward - and nobody wears flats before excersize. :)
Yes, they can still get smelly. Any feet can get smelly with the right excersize. It mostly comes down to the individual's personal hygiene.

Yes, I like flat shoes but my feet end up all sweaty (I don't let them get smelly though). But I've learned that if you use foot powder, it absorbs the sweat. Another thing that they have now are socks for flat shoes that other people can't see, so you can't really tell if someone has on socks or not.

You can get smelly feet from not wearing socks especially with sneakers or leather shoes. I also get blisters so I usually wear little slipper socks when I want to look like I'm not wearing socks.

It depends on the shoe, the sole and the wearer. Personally, I wear flats with no socks. And no, my feet don't stink. To begin with, men sweat twice more then women. To keep my feet sweet smelling and my shoes stinky free, maintain good hygiene. I throughly dry my feet especially in between my toes before slipping on shoes. I rub foot powder on or use a foot spray before wearing my shoes. I make sure my shoes are clean and dry before wearing them. I avoid wearing poorly made shoes as the glue used, when mixed with sweat, makes the feet and the shoe stinky. I also let my shoes air-dry every now and then and I avoid wearing the same pair three days in a row. I try to purchase air-sole shoes (they have tiny holes that let air circulate while being worn). I never lend my shoes. I wipe the insides of my shoes with anti-bacterial wipes and spray them with lysol. Plus, I get regular pedicures or cut and clean my own toenails as stinky-causing bacteria can hide within the toenails. And... hahaha, I also get foot spas occassionally. On bad days, when I feel my feet are tired, I soak them in a basin of hot water with rock salt.

Probably. I know that is the "in" thing to do, but common sense tells you, if there is no socks to absorb the sweat, their feet are doing to stink!

As a male who finds women's shoes sexy, I can make the argument they do, but that's part of life. Women like to make themselves look good all they want, and it's not always easy so not everything that appears interesting is going to smell like roses (no pun intended).
Human beings perspire.
