Today, many Christians have been attracted by emotional music and services of Pentecostal/Charismatic churches. Also, in these churches there are people who speak in tongues, cry emotionally or have demons cast out from them.
Does the Bible sanction this behaviour? What does the Bible have to say about all this and how can Christians today avoid falling into the error of trusting their experiences and feelings?

St. Paul lived in a culture where worship was often emotional and ecstatic. In I Cor 14, he asked Christians to temper this emotional worship so that they could advance God's kingdom and build up his Church:

"Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. . . .Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.

"For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying? You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other man is not edified. . . .

"In the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue."

Dangerous? Probably not. Unfruitful? Yes.

Cheers,
Bruce

Yes, it's dangerous for Christians to base their faith on experience and feeling. You should base your faith and beliefs on God's Word. Speaking in tongues, miracles, demons cast out... that is not the norm today. If you have an experience or a feeling, look at it in light of Scripture. If it's not biblical, forget it.

If there was no personal experiences or feelings then we wouldn't have religion...

No...pentecostals base their church on the pentecost when the Holy Spirit entered the 12 disciples and they were able to speak different language, not babbling and rolling around on the floor.

As far as exorcisms, yes the bible does talk about that.

It's all I got......I speak in Tongues and interpret and feelings is what I have to guide me! Look if you rely on Scripture to guide you and not the Spirit....2 Corinthians 3:6 your going to come unstuck The Letter kills but the Spirit gives life....the reason the Spirit bypasses the Mind is because the Mind has a different function. The Mind is a Matrix ok its a series of Corridors and Doors...when you stop reading the Word for listening to your Spirit, Doors close in the Mind Matrix and you super-charge your Spirit...which means you will experience strong feeings.

To be blunt, it is through our experiences and feelings that God talks to us, in many cases. With your heart and eyes open to God, you can see His hand in alot of things. Yes, even car accidents, and loan denials.

Sometimes God can be found in a song, the way the light shines on a particular day. He's everywhere, not just in a CHURCH. Heck, to my experience, sometimes he's anywhere BUT most churches in my area. Preachers in most of Virginia are about as crooked and twisted as those African savannah trees.

As to the over-emotional churches....MOST of that's show. Other times, that's just how folks communicate with God, it's their thing. If it does it for them, then so be it.

Yes, very dangerous. Our only source for belief and what God wants from us, should come from God's word. Speaking in tongues and casting out demons are scriptural. Singing praises to Him is too and the words to the songs are emotional for us. God gave us our emotions to honor Him with.

You say it is error. Sorry I don't value your judgment on this. If you can't feel the Holy Spirit in your life you have never truly made a commitment.
If you can't trust the voice of God in your life you have nothing at all.
You talk about things you don't understand.
Better to remain silent, and have the world think you a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

faith is not by experience and feelings.. ^.^

the bible tells us to live by faith and not by sight!! the bible did not say u must cry emotionally or speak in tongues... but it comes naturally when you are in His presence..

when you have faith in Him, provided that He calls you to Him, you will feel an overwhelming undescribable forginess, mercy and love, that make you want to pour out all your feelings to Him..

you have to experience it to understand..

Charismatic worship can be a very dangerous setup to falsehoods.
