You can do it. Eat healthy and stay active. Make sure you are doing it for you, not because you have your eye on someone who likes trim girls. Do it beacause you want to feel healthy, and be more active. Get more fun out of life. It sounds like you have an achievable goal! Good Luck hun!

That sounds like a great plan and quite feasible.
Going to the gym 3times a week is a great start but make sure that you also have a food plan as well---NOT A DIET!
Limit you junk food, stay as far away from fast food as you can, stay away from soda, (energy drinks like Red Bull are the same as soda) all soda, even diet is horrible if you are trying to eat healthy. Other than that eat whatever you want but in small portions.
How do I know this--from 240 to 115 size 22 to size 3!!!! And I ate what I wanted and didn't spend a bunch of money to have people tell me what to eat!

The Best thing to do if you have the money, when you sign up for the gym try to work out with a personal trainer it might cost you a little extra but they will find a program designed to meet your goals. i am also 55 160 pounds i am happy with being thick i just want to tighten up. So, this is what I am going to do. Just a suggestion

3 times in the gym is perfect.
i'd start off going to the gym a little more
in the beginning, then slowly bring it down to maybe 3 times.
just stay healthy,
remember to always run/jog/walk.
thats the best workout.

I'm sure you can. Your weight isn't that bad for your height is it? I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but if you go to the gym 3 days out of the week until next summer I'm sure you'll shed off a good bit of those pounds.

Drink more water, eat more fruit and veg, go to the gym before you eat, increase going to the gym from 3 times to 4 times a week, if your not feeling pain then you not gonna get no gain. (or Loss) eat little and often, dont eat to much bread, swap crisps for snack a jacks, and i swap chocolate for greek yoghurt and honey, mix well and it tastes better than chocolate!!!

The tough part is getting through the holidays, after that it'll be easier! When you start seeing the difference in how your clothes fit and what the scale says...you'll get excited about next summer!

Yes of course you can do it! urm ye if u just eat healthily along with going to the gym then the chances are you will lose weight quicker!
